Kirk Cameron: Now 100% More Skeevy!

I admit it - I watched Growing Pains and The Cosby Show in the 80s. My own family was so screwed up, I enjoyed my one night a week of fantasy family happiness.

I was surprised in recent years to hear that Kirk Cameron, former Growing Pains heartthrob, had gone religious and become a televangelist of sorts. OK, I can live with someone's religious preferences, didn't hear any stories of him being the kind of televangelist that bilks people out of money, and pretty much forgot all about it.

Until this week. I was watching television late at night, and saw this show. I was FLABBERGASTED. He sounded like a complete idiot. A total tool. I coudln't believe the ignorance he was spouting. (The "duckgator" as proof against evolution was one shining moment of idiocy.)

I have been looking on YouTube and Google video for this episode to post here, but meanwhile - enjoy this article:

Kirk Cameron, Ray Comfort to debate atheists on ABC (OneNewsNow.com)

OK, the atheist half of the debate about the existence of God put their video on YouTube. After a silly clip of them in the car going to ABC, you can see the interview in action.

PZ Myers at Pharyngula followed this one fairly closely, as well as a number of other of Cameron's activities. This link is to the results of a search at Pharyngula for "Kirk Cameron." Some of Myers' comments are really choice. He thinks Cameron is one of the stupidest creationists ever (and Myers is a biologist and an atheist, so you can imagine what he thinks of creationists in general).

Re Kirk Cameron: Now 100% More Skeevy!

I haven't watched these new videos, but my favorite moment in the last one I saw was Cameron and Comfort arguing that the ridges on a banana (a popular food) lined up with the creases in a man's hand, and since the banana fits perfectly, that is evidence for design.

...er.

Ignoring the fact that it's complete BS anyway: So, the notion that a banana fits perfectly in your hand is NOT evidence of man having a common ancestry with apes? Good job!

They are so far off the planet that their irony meters are completely busted.

I don't like bananas. I must not be part of God's design.
