Re Laying the Wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier | | I agree, Wormie. Even if he was weekending at the ranch, he does have a private plane and pilot at his disposal at all times.
I belong to a peace group that has a 'weekly witness' at the park every Sunday. Last week we went to our National Cemetery for the Veterans Day services after our witness. I had never really strolled through the cemetery, and was shocked, walking to my car, to find rows upon rows of tombstones for "unknown soldier #1324, unknown soldier #1325...." It was so heartbreaking, row upon row of unknown soldiers. I guess it never occurred to me that all national cemeteries had tombstones of unknown soldiers.
Given my location, I am sure that many were soldiers from the Civil War, perhaps Union and Confederate soldiers laying side by side. There were other tombstones for Civil War soldiers not far away. |
