| | I hate to say it... I don't.
I don't care anymore about the presidential election.
At this point, I'm numbingly waiting for November so one of them can just "get 'er dun."
I'm sick of "he or she doesn't have enough experience."
I'm sick of "oh yeah, well, his of her moral compass is pointing that way."
I'm sick of "you want me because you don't want him."
Obama is not Bill Clinton, oh Newt and Rush lovers.
McCain is not Bush, oh Radio America listeners.
The only refreshing moment for me in the last few days was when Obama told the press to leave Bristol Palin alone.
At this point, I think our country is hugely divided and controlled by a loud minority on both sides of the aisles... the angry liberals and the self-righteous right wing.
In the middle, I believe, is the vast majority of this country, numbed by it all, caught in a state of vertigo while the spin goes on unabated. I'm having political bedspins.
When I was in Canada getting verbally abused by my Noam Chomsky following brother, cousin and uncle, I just shrugged, got up and got a beer.
I think they expected a fight, but I just don't have it in me. Nor, do I have anything to give them. They tried to get me riled up by saying American Libertarians only care about personal property rights. Meh. Probably.
When my online conservative friend sends me conservative crap about Obama hating the Bible (all right, she's not my friend anymore, man I hate that crap), I rolled over and moaned... sent back the message to everybody and said, "you don't really believe this stuff, do you?"
You Tube and blogs and Facebook... it's everywhere... angry, opinion-possessed people distorting every word any candidate every lets rip. And their running mates. And their families. And their running mate families.
Honestly, quite honestly, to me either dude will be okay. I like Biden... he suffers from foot in mouth disease like I do and has experience. I like Obama, he's a nice enough guy with a lot of people around who will help him. McCain isn't evil incarnate, though his flip flopping has me dizzy. And Palin, well, she's a bit scary.. but honestly, if McCain got in, she's going to be doing wreath laying ceremonies and ribbon cuttings. If McCain croaks, well, I don't know. I just don't know. Or care.
I want to be more involved. I want to BELIEVE.
I just don't.
These are not the people I got excited about. Honestly, I was leaning towards Clinton. I don't see Palin as a feminist option. I just don't care.
So, it's all yours. I am watching America's Next Top Model, where the cat fights are in Versace. Looking forward to the Amazing Race. Writing. Girl Scout Cookie sales are coming, church is getting busy and field hockey is underway. I have better things to fret over.

| | Right now my favorite show is Wipe-Out! It is totally sick and twisted watching people get hurt and make fools of themselves. You should try it.
I watch very little about the elections. I've followed the Palin thing because I've found it interesting but I'm pretty much done with it now and I won't be watching her speech (or maybe it is already done and I didn't watch it.)

Right now my favorite show is Wipe-Out! It is totally sick and twisted watching people get hurt and make fools of themselves. You should try it. | Personally I like Ninja Warrior quite a bit. Same sort of thing to some degree but it is a bit different in tone. Sure you see a bunch of people wiping out on it but the basic obstacle course is *tough* and it isn't designed for the competitors to wipe out. It has a pretty high degree of skill level (for example, the Hamms that would have been in the Olympics were on it and it has other former and potential Olympians on it) but still has goofy competitors that aren't designed to pass the course like Octopus Man and Hang Glider Man. Also while it is competitive, it isn't really the people competing against themselves. It them against the course. Potentially everyone could beat the course. It isn't gonna happen though. In twenty comps they've only had two pass the whole thing.
The only real problem I have with the show is that there are only two competitions a year (and one Women of Ninja Warrior) and only generally four half hour episodes from each competiiton (or maybe two, or maybe three depending). |

I care about something! | Cindy, I have tasted them and I believe the Keebler elves have taken the Little Brownie Bakers as prisoners of cookie wars and sent them to a little elf GITMO.
They, well, SUCKED.
But at least there are still Samoas. They can't take that away from me!

I LOVE THAT SHOW! My daughter and I sneak it on when Dad isn't looking. It's the one guilty pleasure we share on the sly.
A couple of the couples are from right here in Merlin.

Yeah, I like Wipe Out because it's like Mystery Science Theatre mixed with Sports Center.

YOur area girl scouts may not have had them. They are a shortbread like cookie with a fudge bottom with four or five messages that said "Girl Scouts are all about friendship." or "Leadership" and the like.
I used to buy a case to give as gifts to those who visited my troops or who hosted my troops.

The election, that is. Y'all know how I feel about cookies.

| | Elyzabeth - nope, don't know those cookies. And yes, Redneck Wedding is crazy! We had never seen it or heard of it till it was on at the clinic. It was the Florida Rednecks who wanted to get married in the mud bog and serve cooter stew. It's a horrible horrible show, but we laughed a LOT

| | I'm with Elyzabeth, sort of -- I'm not sick of the election, I'm sick of the coverage. Everything everyone does is Significant. Even (or especially) if it's not.
No TV. I read.
