What made you start writing a blog?
I did mine as part of a business venture - yes it brings in a little money, but for the most part, it gives me a creative outlet to share information.
I know my family (some of them ) read it regularly, and I do have other "regular" readers as well. Part of the reason to continue to write is to keep those folks abreast of what I'm up to.

What made you start writing a blog?
I keep mine up so that far flung friends can check in and see what's going on in my life. I used to write a lot of letters but I just don't have the time anymore so the blog serves as an open letter to the world.

What made you start writing a blog?
The first one I ever did was about stupid people (Golgafrinchans of the World - 10 points if you know the reference ) but I never really did anything with it. Then I started blogging for Homeschool Help Web, and that was fun. When things changed there, I started my new one, but it's almost all homeschool business.
Last year I did start a personal blog with tight privacy on it - anyone could read it, but I didn't use any of our names or locations and no photos without blanked faces. I also didn't advertise anywhere along my normal stomping grounds - I just kind of put it out there. I started it not too long after Joseph got his new job and I was feeling rather stressed out about all the changes going on. It wasn't really a venting place, more of a distraction from reality. It helped a lot. And now that I'm busy with other stuff and have gotten over the major humps associated with all the changes, I almost never write there anymore.
Blogging can be very fun, and while the average person won't make much off of it, it can still be rewarding in its own way.
I can point you to several good articles and sites about blogging if you're interested.

I'm wondering how the bloggers among you decided to start blogging. Where you trying to get a message across, trying to make money, felt like expressing yourself beyond your usual circle of friends--what compelled you to do it.
Late to the party as usual...
Because I could.
To express more creativity than the Eps writing I do. Which is tightly 'controlled' re: product reviews.
To create something.
Because I found reading other blogs fun.
To share thoughts and things I find.
Just because...
...tom...
