HELLO. This about FRUITCAKE, not about you guys and your silly competition! 
I have never had store bought fruitcake. My mother used to make a Welsh fruitcake called Bara Brethe (or something like that, I'm too lazy to pick up the recipe book). It was good, but dry. I don't think fruitcake is supposed to be dry. I won't make it because I can't find the red and green cherries that are supposed to be in it.
I remember that everyone who was in the house when it was being made was invited to take a stir - supposed to bring you good luck in the coming year. Maybe that's my problem, no good luck because I don't make the Bara Brethe anymore.

I've never been into fudge much - too sugary, but hot fudge on vanilla ice cream with a sprinkle of peanuts - now I could go for that! |
