| | We'd Like To Surprise Our Fearless Leader, Amy Khar | | Dear Amy:
I am very sneaky! I took a very quiet little Private Message poll of many of our frequent users, and we are 98% unanimous in our desire to surprise you with a makeover on one of the makeover television shows.
You have put so much effort into your family, your new writing career and into making this site a home away from home for subscribers and guests alike that I wanted to try to do something nice in return for you. My original idea was to submit your name as a candidate for a show called What Not To Wear. I did not pick this because I think you dress poorly, but rather because they have the most "cherry" deal - you get a week in New York, fashion advice, a new hairdo, new glasses, new makeup and $5000 to spend on new clothes with the help of the fashionistas. The fashionistas can be a little ruthless though, so at the suggestion of the 2% I thought I'd let you in on the whole idea so we didn't end up offending you instead of honoring you!
One of the other options is called A Makeover Story. This one is not nearly as cushy as the other one, but is a kinder, gentler show. You get a new hairdo and makeup and one outfit and some not-as-detailed fashion advice. The Makeover Story would also require us to submit one of your family members or friends (your daughter, a neighbor that lives in your area) to get made over with you.
So, Ms. Site Owner - which sounds better to you... a week of fashion advice, a whole new wardrobe, do and make up all for yourself? Or subjecting a person living near you of your choosing to a makeover with you? Let us try to get you pampered!
(insert evil laugh here)

When Leslie originally messaged us about this, I thought about way back when the show was starting and how you said that you would do it - even if it was a bit embarrasing. Just think of it - a week in NY with all expensese paid. $5000 of new clothing. A day pampering your hair and skin. It could be really fun!!! Just don't get too emotionally invested in your current wardrobe - they tend to be mean about existing clothes.
I think Leslie had a great idea!!!! Will you do it??? |

| | Re: We'd Like To Surprise Our Fearless Leader, Amy Khar | | Shoot... I'd do it. In a heartbeat, and I like the way I dress.
I'd do it for the $5000 in new clothes. What they do on "What Not To Wear" is great. The problem is that you have to find someone who is fashion-stupid... I mean really fashion-stupid.
Thankfully, I have a wife that keeps up with fashion and makes suggestions or just goes out, buys something she likes and says, "I saw this at the store, I thought you'd look good in it."
My hair has changed about a half-dozen times since we started dating. I've been able to keep this latest hairstyle for about five months. |

| | Re: We'd Like To Surprise Our Fearless Leader, Amy Khar | | Now now - don't be offended if you're one of the people I missed. Some of you I just plain missed, some had full PM inboxes and messages came back, some I just kept getting your user ID wrong - here is your chance to make suggestions.....
Speaking of suggestions, in order to do this properly I'll need the assistance of someone who knows a little more about our fearless leader so I can give the show enough info in the letter to give Amy a fighting chance at getting picked.... any volunteers?? |

| | Re: We'd Like To Surprise Our Fearless Leader, Amy Khar | | Sure, I'd do it. The one thing I like about that show is that they don't go for only size 3 leggy blondes. They show people with short lumpy bodies how to look more put together. As far as them throwing out my clothes, I'd probably beat them to it The only things I would fight for are my special t-shirts made by Sara and Wormie and my Avon 3-day shirt and my Epinions x-mas shirt. I'd promise to never wear them again if need be, but I'd insist on keeping them.

Leslie, grand idea. I'll even spring for cable if (when!) our girl gets in.

| | Re: We'd Like To Surprise Our Fearless Leader, Amy Khar | | OK, I'm taking suggestions and collecting info. Once I have enough for the application, I'll send it in - and I'll post it here.
BTW Amy - you have to pretend you knew nothing about this if you win a spot on the show - they like the recipients to be completely surprised..... I just didn't want to spring something on you like this without a little warning.... |
