Anyone here live in or near Simi Valley, Ca?

If you are familiar with the area, can you help me with a recommendation?

My friend there will be having a birthday soon. I want to send her a certificate for a massage at a local spa. I need the name of a good local spa.
If you can help, I'd appreciate it!

I lived in Ventura (5 min from Simi) for 4 years, and Santa Barbara for about 10. I'd recommend a spa in Ojai (about 10 minutes north of Simi - she'll know where it is) for a day of pampering.

It is one of the best on the coast, and hey, she could even run into Jennifer Anniston, or any one of the many stars in the Santa Barbara/Ventura area....

SIGH - now I'm missing home....ah, Santa Barbara....

Do you know of a spa that I could spend less than $100?
I was thinking more in the $50 range.
I know that might not cover a full massage, but I'd like to at least come close.

Honestly, there was not a great one in her area for that priceas far as I know, BUT you could look into a gift certificate for that much at any spa that offers a la cart services, then she could either pick a facial (less than $50) or spring for the difference and get the full massage herself. I'll give some of my California cosmetologist buddies a jingle and get back to you - they may have a price-conscious recommendation for you that I'm not aware of...

I found the Sky Spa on the web. It looks nice, but not nearly as wonderful as the one you suggested.
I could just get her the $50 gc there, but I'll feel badly if I know she has to shell out money for the services.
At Sky they have a 1/2 hour massage for $30 and an hour for $ 60. $50 would get her almost an hour or 1/2 plus something else.
Never having seen the place though - it may not be nice enough to be a treat.

This page has several located in her town.

Just to help out, any spa with area code 805 would be within a 5 - 30 minute drive for her (805 is all of Ventura County, where Simi is, and part of Santa Barbara County, where Ojai is).

I'll ask about the one you found, I hadn't even heard of them.

OMG---this has nothing to do with the spa, but I grew up in Simi Valley and Ventura!! I went from 5-part of 7th grade in Simi Valley, and then we moved to Ventura!! We lived there until I was in high school! OMG--wow!! Towns out of my past.

Leslie--I lived near the BuenaVentura Shopping Center. We lived iin the BuenaVista Gardens Apartments. My guess is that they might not still be there. I went to Anacapa Junior High School. Oh my.

I lived and worked in downtown Santa Barbara for MANY years, then lived and worked in the Montalvo area of Ventura for a few years - graduated with a double bachelors from Cal State Northridge

wormie - My cosmetologist friends said if you just want to give her a decent massage, call around to hair salon in the area - apparantly quite a few have added massage as an option now.

It has been too many years Leslie. I just remembered the Big points. Back when we lived in Simi Valley, the only way in or out was the Santa Suzanna pass. I remember it quite well, but I am sure a freeway or two has been built since then.

I can't even remember the name of the largest store in that shopping center. I can picture the building, but not the store name. This was before malls. It was just a shopping center. Oh the memories!

Last night I was lying in bed telling myself not to "forget" to buy something. Her b-day is the 2nd, and, while I never forget her birthday, sometimes I forget that the 2nd comes so soon after the 30th.
