| | Hello from sunny Florida! | | Hi. I am David, but my friends call me ...David.
I am an as-yet-unpublished writer of children's stories, and an erstwhile musician (keyboards and vocals). I am presently employed as a karaoke jock, which ain't bad work if you can get it. It's sorta like being a non-committal Simon Cowell. ("Okay, fine, see you in Hollywood... NEXT?")
I grew up in Palm Beach County, home of Jimmy Buffett, hanging chad, and discount rates on apartments previously rented to terrorists. Last June, after more than four decades of sweltering heat and soaring prices, I packed up the family (oh, yeah... I'm married, with a boy - 11 and a girl - 9), and moved to Central Florida, where we found a cozy nest in the hills above Mouseburg. Here we have been thriving ever since. (And if you have never thrived, you really should try it. It is exhilarating, and good aerobic exercise, to boot.)
I came to this board at the recommendation of EA boarder Taurusmoon, with whom I am acquainted via old college-buddy Kalynda and her hubby Joubert. They also introduced me to Redlass, which is very exciting because when I get to know her a bit better, maybe she will read my children's book, and hook me up with a publisher, and fame and fortune will be mine, and the drinks will be on me!
Until then, let me know whether you'd rather sing My Heart Will Go On or Margaritaville.
See you in Hollywood,
David |

If your children's books are as good as your songs, I've got an 8 year old who'll be an instant fan -- although he'll consider you a competitor. He's already started writing (and illustrating) his first book.

So, Sara didn't want to introduce you to me? We're neighbors! I live in Broward county. I guess she's heard me sing and didn't think you'd want to - being a karaoke guy and all.
Welcome! |

Maybe a bit too happy. I'd better doublecheck my meds.

The little can, however, has me wondering: Do you have to add a can of water to the worms?
Which is okay... but why can't I sleep??

Wait, can I sing "Closing Time"? Can my boys and their friends sing "Tearin' Out My Heart When I'm With You"? You're leaving already?
