Messing up

Gah. I seem to have lost my touch.

The last three projects I've worked on I've messed up in some major way. The one I was able to fix. The other I've poured $30 worth of yarn into and it isn't even recognizable as the shape it's supposed to be.

I suppose it's meant to keep me humble so I remember how much I still have to learn with my craft.

On the positive side, I did make myself a pretty pink and purple mohair scarf.

Re Messing up

I hear ya. I have a sweater sitting around since November with one sleeve sewn in.

It's not laying right and I just don't have the stomach to rip it out and try setting the sleeve again.

On the other hand, there's a good $30 worth of yarn invested in that project too. I shouldn't walk away from the investment in materials and time just because of a little disappointment.

Knowing me, I'll pick it up again and fix it. Just in time for Spring.

Yup! It's so hard to pull out all that yarn, yet leaving it sit makes it worse.

So I guess I'll try to fix this other project. I used a new yarn that is absolutely luscious. I suppose I shouldn't have tried a new pattern shape at the same time that I was using a new yarn, eh?

Oh dear. What shape was it supposed to be?

Oh oh.
Now I am singing the lyrics to
"The Shape I'm In"
Quote:
Go out yonder, peace in the valley
Come downtown, have to rumble in the alley
Oh, you don't know the shape I'm in

Re Messing up

It was supposed to be two rectangles (simple enough, right?) that you sewed together into a diamond shape.

It ended up...well. Perhaps I should take a picture of it tonight.

Re Messing up

I hear you Bridgette. I HATE remaking something, especially when I've spent boocoo hours designing and $ in materials.

But I hate putting out sub-par items even more!

Re Messing up

Absolutely! In fact, I tend to toss things into a "to be fixed" box where they languish for years before I decide I can't remember what the original intent was and I throw it out.

Bad habit of mine!

Re Messing up

I have a growing to be fixed/in progress stack. In fact it's overtaken an entire corner of my bedroom. (Precious, precious real estate!)

And, I have you to thank for it, Bridgette.
