If I were to ask your spouse to describe you

when you were not in the room and you would never have the description get back to you, what do you think your spouse would say?

Your old music cannot sustain you through a life, not if you're someone who listens to music every day, at every opportunity. You need input, because pop music is about freshness, about Nelly Furtado and the maddeningly memorable fourth track on a first album by a band you saw on a late-night TV show. And no, that fourth track is not as good as anything on Pet Sounds or Blonde on Blonde or What's Going On, but when was the last time you played Pet Sounds? - Songbook by Nick Hornby

Re If I were to ask your spouse to describe you

Mine wants to know who else would be in the room. He can't answer if he doesn't know who he's talking to...context of what he's talking about... why he's in the room...

Re If I were to ask your spouse to describe you

Hmmm, on a good day or a bad day?

I've had things get back to me that he's said about me when I wasn't around--and they were all very sweet and complimentary. But there are days...

Re If I were to ask your spouse to describe you

I'd have a similar answer as Redlass. It would depend on the day.

On a bad day, my wife might call me "cheap." That's not exactly true, I'm more frugal -- I'm always looking for a deal. Cheap, to me at least, involves passing up on things or buying substandard items. I'll spend an hour or two on-line at various websites trying to get the best deal on a plane ticket, or whatever. I'll also buy new (never used) stuff on eBay.

When my wife does get mad and calls me "cheap," it is usually because she wants something that we just can't afford. She wants, for instance, to go to Disney World. I'd love to take her, but it is a tremendously expensive adventure for us right now (I'm not earning a real income until I graduate). If she sat back and thought about it, she would realize that since she's been married to me, I've provided her with a lifestyle (she had a horrible childhood, her first husband was very abusive, etc.) that she had never experienced before in her life -- I like to treat her well, I just also like to have us never be in the situation of living paycheck-to-paycheck. That scares the crap out of me.

On a good day, she'll tell you that I'm a caring, loving husband who treats her like a queen. I know that because that's made it back to me from others.

He'd say I'm a ding dong. Heck, he says that to my face. But he'd also say that I'm smart, successful, and try to make people happy.
