so far I'm only with y'all on the broadband and online banking. The rest I don't use or could live without. 
MetroCards, but that's a NYC subway thing. As is the AirTrain from the LIRR to JFK.

Trust me. If you had four kids six and under, you'd be with me on the DVD player. You have no idea how many times I've taken one kid to an activity or something, dropped them off, and sat in the car with the rest watching a video. Like Beanie's piano lessons. |

The thing that started me on this thought this a.m. was when I popped open my tube of toothpaste, one handed, and didn't have to mess with putting down the cap, picking up the cap, screwing on the cap, etc., It's such an easy concept, one of those "Why didn't I think of that?"
Funny how that simple thought has gone all the way to DVD players and cell phones.

Put I like the toothpaste that comes in the little plastic bottles that you squeeze. Tubes are messy.

We were talking about this topic with my grandfather shortly before he died. It was amazing the types of things that we take for granted now that changed in only his lifetime.
A lot of them are little conveniences and some, of course, are huge medical and scientific breakthroughs. I like your toothpaste tube example, LK.
Just looking around my house right now, I see:
- a cordless phone
- one of the kids' handheld game systems (PSP?) that actually has wi-fi!
- a digitial piano in the "shape" of an upright that only a real pianist would know is not "real"
- movies on demand
- light switches that dim and 3 way bulbs
- a glucometer to test blood sugar painlessly (kinda) in 5 seconds
That's just what I can see sitting on my couch with a laptop. Amazing, huh? |
