| | If winter is listening, I'd like to go on record as saying "uncle!" at the top of my lungs. It's 16 F right now. It is supposed to get all the way up to 19. I'm ready for summer now. |

| | All of 23 here according to AOL (they're usually wrong). It was cold yesterday, but the wind just makes it worse.
I am okay with this winter so far...I would like just one nice nasty blizzard during the week though. But not until after Feb 12.

| | We've been pretty fortunate. We had one day last week when it was about 7 degrees. But supposedly that was the coldest it's been in two years. It's been in the 20's - 30's since then.
And -- knock on wood -- no snow to speak of this winter. Yet.

| | 11? Ack!!!!!
The furnace broke in our building today, so we were freezing- no heat at all. I can't feel my face. As soon as I got home, the boys were lined up by the door, begging to be taken sledding. I need to get warm- but then, I have to go outside? Where they keep the cold? Be still my beating heart. Bleah. |

| | We went sledding. They are so cujte when they plead. And clean up the house while I'm at work, "just in case you want to take us sledding without worrying about the housework". Who can resist such cute boys?
At the sled hill, there were four teens carrying snowboards, and one ran out onto the pond. It's been way too warm to do that, so his friends started yelling at him to get off the ice. He yelled back, inssisting that the city hadn't filled it, so there wasn't a pond there. They argued, he yelled.
Finally, he shouted, "Hey, lady in the red coat, is this a pond?"
I replied that in fact, as per the signage, it was a pond. I pointed to the sign. Which, btw, he was leaning against.
"Hey, are you trying to f*** with my head? There ain't any water in here, so it ain't a pond! Does this look like a friggin' pond to you?"
I said that yes, it looked very much like a pond to me, and that if I were him, I would not stand on the thin ice. I also politely pointed out that aside from being cold, the water underneath would be really mucky, since it's a waterfowl breeding ground in the spring.
"Hey, all you motherf****, this is not a pond! This is not a -"
Followed, of course, by the crackling of thin ice breaking accross. He dropped into waist-high water, still yelling about this not being a pond. Then they all went sledding, after refusing to let any of us call 911. Did I mention that it was 18? |

| | We have now reached a crisis. At one of my church buildings (that I manage) there is a funeral with an expected attendance of 600. The sewer lines are FROZEN. Luckily, I'm on the PR side of things and not anything hands on. Anyone excited to use a port-a-potty at 5 degrees? What a day!
And almost certainly my kids will be out of school tomorrow as the expected low in town is -16 with a high of 2.
I'm really getting tired of this.

and yes, I would say you are VERY lucky that you do not have to be "hands on" in this situation

| | I dunno, it's not bad here. We've managed to miss EVERYTHING so far, knock on wood. Everything keeps going northeast just enough to miss us here. All that snow and ice that hit TX again yesterday? Just cold rain here. North Alabama is snowy, though. Right now it's 39, going up to 54. But it's wet and feels a lot colder than that. BRRRRR.
