I've been appointed to the condominium Board of Managers. So far all I know is I have to go to meetings and get Director and Officer Liablity Insurance.

I was on our homeowners association board when we lived in central PA. It was a one year term. I was very happy when my year was over.

Boards can be fun to serve on when there are people who like each other and who are passionate about what they're working on. It really can be an opportunity to make something better.
You're good at administrative tasks which will help. There are also some really good resources out there on board management and serving on boards. A really old book is by Conrad called "The Effective Voluntary Board of Directors". I used to have a lot of books on my shelf for that when I was writing about boards, but it's been years and I've gotten rid of most of them.

Four months later and so far I've learned more about roofs and EFS systems than I've ever wanted to know; got taken to task for not knowing why there is a 1/2 inch gap in the track of the new window systems the board is looking at, and saw an open meeting end with a fight between residents where police and EMS were called to the scene.
Just in case you were wondering how it was going.

| One would think, but apparently not. Maybe NYS lowered the legal age for owning property to 14.
