| | Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | I just paid $3.39 for a gallon of 2%, non-name-brand. At SAM'S. Last week, it was $3.02 at Sam's Club. I shudder to think what it is at the regular stores.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | I just threw away my receipt but it was $3.49 I think. I accidentally picked up the name brand milk instead of the store brand but I was in too big of a hurry to take it back to the back of the store when I realize it.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | It's still $3.69 a half-gallon for rice milk. Sorry, not much sympathy coming from these quarters! |

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | $2.19 a quart last week. We don't usually buy gallons since we just use milk for our coffees, an occasional bowl of cereal, cooking... gallons go bad before we use them up. And he uses whole milk, I use skim, so that doesn't help use it any faster.

(got my 2 gallons, too!)
Giant has milk for 2.99 a gallon (all types) through today.
And I can usually get it for under $3 at BJs.
Actually, I tend to pay less for milk around here at convenience stores, like Luckies.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | Yep. Safeway. I paid $3.21 yesterday at Lauers. Wasn't worth the gas to go somewhere else when I was already there. I buy it at BJ's if I'm there, but the kids drink more milk than that. I haven't been in Luckies since they re-opened.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | One thing I do when I remember, is when the gallon gets about half-way down, add about a quart of mixed powdered milk. Sean will NOT drink powdered milk at all, and while Erin used to like it okay, she's not real fond of it anymore. But if I sneak it in, they never notice.
It doesn't stretch it much, but every bit helps.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | You can also stock up and put it in the freezer. Just take a little out first to leave room for expansion. I'm going to have to start doing that again. Of course, I have a big stand alone freezer and plenty of room which helps.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | I never bother with pouring off any. I think I've had one leak a little when I froze it, out of all the ones I've frozen over the years.

I used to extend my milk with Moo Milk but decided it had too much trans fat in it.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | I think I paid $3.49 for a gallon this week. Last week at Safeway it was 2 for $5.00 but you had to buy two at one time.
Sometimes the kids go thru three gallons a week, other times they might not even finish a gallon. I never know, so I hate to buy more than one gallon at a time. I'd rather have to stop for more than toss some out.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | At 2 for $5, you're ahead if the kids drink 1.5 gallons before it goes bad. OTOH, if you have a big freezer, there's your solution.

| | Re Forget gas, what are you paying for milk these days? | | I wish I had freezer space. Right now it's stuffed with other deals no room for milk.
I bought the kids the "Sippah" straws-they make chocolate milk with a straw. Maybe they'll drink more milk this week
