| | We have these huge enormous bushes at the base of our driveway, well HAD the bushes. They were awful. Our driveway is hard to back out of to begin with, but the bushes made it all that more difficult. And too many times cars have wound up in the bushes and scratched. So finally this year, the project was to take them out. Hubby started to trim and dig out stumps, they weren't planted very deeply, about 10 or 12 inches, which I don't know how the bushes survived all these years (they were here when we bought the house).
My son has been obsessed. He and hubby finished digging out the last stump last week, and over the weekend hubby planted grass. One side of the driveway. About 10 bushes. Teddy started the other side. About 10 more bushes. Today he took out the last of the bushes and there are 3 more stumps to dig out. These things were 6 + feet tall, and probably about 10 feet wide. The branches are like palm fronds.
I am so happy they are going. They were planted too closely, they are all dead inside, and are just aggravating. But I had no idea how obsessed my son was over them. He told me today he always hated them.
So my driveway is very open right now!!! Amy you will love it.

| | LOL Melanie, that was my question!
We had a similar situation this weekend. We got into a "discussion" on the small garden I was putting in, and hubby decided I needed more dirt in it. So rather than subject the child to digging out dirt, he fired up his big old tractor, scooped up a bucket of dirt from the back hill, and dumped it on the garden. I asked him, since he had the tractor out, it he'd get rid of the nasty, scrubby pine tree in the front yard that I've been nagging him about for 2 years. "You really hate that tree, don't you?" YES. I HATE that tree!!!
So he took the tractor and proceeded to knock down and scoop up the pine tree. Over kill, but at least the damn thing is GONE.

| | Yes the bushes are Amy's bushes. Only she didn't really drive into them. I did. She dodged them quite eloquently. But they are down. They are still around because the trash people won't take them away all at once, and we don't have a "dump" to take them to.
My neighbor stopped over and offered her trash pick up to help get rid of the debris faster.

| | One thing I like about where we live, we have city-wide pick-up of stuff like that - bushes, tree limbs, leaves, etc. The trucks don't run as often as the garbage trucks, but they do pick up reasonable amounts of organic trash.
