| | Heard that a power outage made traffic and transit an absolute nightmare today! Hope you all got home safe and sound, but I'm worried since I don't see any of you today. |

| | You didn't see me b/c I was in transit. Left my hot and sunny home at 12:30 to fly to Syracuse. All was well but our flight was delayed. Flew through and around some awful storms and landed in hot, muggy Syracuse to see "Cancelled" or "Delayed" on the Arrivals board. Colleages flying out of LaGuardia didn't make it at all. Amtrak posted 2-3 hour delays b/c of signal outages. Even driving to the hotel we had to pass intersections with downed power lines. Hubby said all three cats went into the Witness Protection Program (aka under the bed in the second bedroom) when the lightning hit Long Island. I didn't even know about the Manhattan power outage until I was in the air, and it had been resolved. Go figger.

| | I wasn't affected by the power outage at all. But the storm? Yowza!
It was not fun driving through that one, let me tell you.

| | Oh, apparently the LIRR shut down last night and didn't get back to normal until 3:30am today - they shut down Penn Station and everything! I am SO glad I missed that commuter experience.

| | I just learned that my boss was stuck in that and interviewed on local news radio about it.
I'm steering clear of him today. He's gotta be really cranky.

| | Hell no.
Sick day - which I'm sure I'll be in trouble over, but I woke with a migraine and a bad back ache. Tater didn't want me to sleep. I'm only somewhat miserable now, but I'll work from home this afternoon. |

| | We had a bad one yesterday too. Ten inches in an hour in some places. Lots of people are displaced because of flooding.
We have been praying for rain the last two years and it didn't come. Guess all those prayers finally got answered. |

| | And that's the second or third time y'all have been flooded in the last couple of months, isn't it? Meanwhile, we can't get any rain here to save our lives. The drought here is SO, so, so bad it's run into federal assistance territory. We have not cut our grass in WEEKS.

I've heard that places that have never flooded before are washing away.
I'll do my best to get this stuff to head your way. Although, I don't think you want the amounts we're getting. |

| | Airlines are still screwed up today, some of my conference participants couldn't make it here in time for the conference and I just found out my flight home is cancelled altogether.

| | Called rental car company. They wouldn't let us take the car to NYC. Called another rental car company. Got everyone in car, turned in car, got SUV. Made sure everyone else who flew to conference had way home.
Bad, bad, bad rain. Got to Queens, asked to be dropped off at LIRR station at Archer and Parsons. Except that the LIRR is really at Sutphin and Parsons. Took subway one stop.
Called friend who'd gotten a ride from someone else. Found out his driver lives one town away from me and I should have been in their car.
Got on LIRR to get home. Called Hubby to go to my station to get me. LIRR doesn't leave station... sick passenger. Hubby's phone is off. Sick passenger gets off train. Train gets in 25 minutes late.
Another wonderful adventure in my little world of in-state business travel.
