Huh??? That was weird. Something is going around with weird telephone calls.

We got a call about a week ago from a blocked call telling us that one of the neighbors (and they gave the house number and name of the people) uses date rape drugs and frequents prostitutes in his home. Missy got the call. She was stumped--when all was said and done, we realized that the caller knew our name, our phone number and address. We called the police. We don't even know the people referred to--the police had us trace the call, and if it happens again they can act. They evidently need 2 incidents.

That's not that unusual. There are a lot of services that allow you to look up neighbors of a certain person/address.

We used to occasionally get collect calls from the city jail from "bljghgh". It was obviously somebody who was SO drunk or stoned that they couldn't even say their own name. I finally called the phone company and had them block the number - I was afraid for whoever it was that the guy *thought* he was calling, afraid they were going to get in trouble because "they" didn't accept his collect call.

Last year I had somebody from one of the state prisons in a neighboring county calling me mucho times a day - he obviously thought he had the right number written down and just kept calling it over and over and over again. It was collect, of course, and I kept hanging up. I finally had to call the prison warden and get them to take care of it.

Re Ring Ring

Sunday two motorhomes pulled up in front of our house and starting taking pictures.

We ended up having a jolly little visit with them. They used to live in our home and I remembered some of their older siblings from back then. I think the guy was a little shocked when I walked outside and said, you are a --insert last name here--.

Re Ring Ring

you are a?

Melanie - here when collect calls come from the jails you can hit a number code to permanently block them - the jail tells you the code when they tell you it's a collect call. Then you're done. No calls from jail unless you change your number.

Re Ring Ring

The blocking thing wouldn't work on my phone for some reason. I had to call the phone company and get them to do it.

Wow! I must lead a really quiet life because I think that's pretty unusual and somewhat scary too. I guess I've been lucky with only an occasionally odd call over the years.

Re Ring Ring

It was Sandy. Especially since the "people" are two very elderly individuals, who I am not sure even drive a car. When it finally registered, yes I thought that possibly it was just a random prank, but too many connections from the call were correct. Our name, house number etc. I am hoping we overreacted but considering the layout of our street, it was extremely odd. Even my hubby was rattled, and he suggested we call the police. He never gets rattled at anything.
