Question Does anybody know what kind of bird lays this egg?

okay, i live in Argos, Indiana and i was at my grandma's when we found a nest in her birdhouse. I looked inside and saw 4 Red with yellow spotted eggs. I've been looking on the internet for an hour and i can't find anything that tells me what kind of bird lays these eggs. my grandma is in love with birds and she doesn't even know what kind of bird lays these eggs. So if anyone knows feel free to contact me on here. thanks.

Re Does anybody know what kind of bird lays this egg?

I found this:

Quote:
Kestrel Falco tinnunculus

Rounded and heavily speckled red eggs. Incubation 4 weeks by the female. Britain's commonest bird of prey. Hovers with head perfectly still and then drops in stages onto the victim. Numbers reduced in the 50's and 60's but now recovered.
I wonder if it's lost or escaped.

Also, I found a reference to a tern with abnormally red eggs (terns don't generally have red eggs) - so this could be a typical bird for the area which as unusual eggs.

Re Does anybody know what kind of bird lays this egg?

I found a few more references to red eggs. Peregrine falcons (unlikely), Western Scrub Jays, Mountain Bluebird - probably several others - lay red eggs. The yellow spots may or may not be typical.

BTW, I found all that in a matter of minutes by googling "red eggs" with the quotation marks, then clicking the "search within" button at the bottom and typing in "birds" without the quotation marks.
