| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | Hubby is home on Mondays so my schedule is always thrown off
Went to an Italian pig roast yesterday. Lots of food; lots of fun and relatives; lots of home made wine; music; bocca ball; and "lottsa" Italians. The weather was great and we had a great time. |

Two words: poison ivy. | Same with Tracy.
I've been up for a couple of hours, but it's Monday and I'm in no rush to get into gear. Guess I'll put catering stuff away and go out and see if anyone is working at the church. Who knows, maybe I'll get to do something fun like hang some sheetrock. |

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | Vinegar spray MJ. 1 cup to 1 cup. It works wonderfully.

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | You've said that but it doesn't work in our bathroom. It goes back to vinyl wallpaper having been painted over, plus extra glue used originally because it's a humid bathroom (we surmise). We've scored the wallpaper and used vinegar and two types of DIF - nothing soaks through. It's all hard, manual labor for Hubby.

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | I will probably regret this later. However, it is supposed to be really hot tomorrow, so I'm going to let the boys strip wall paper with the vinegar solution. Either I'll finally get to paint my hall and stairs, or else you'll all have something to read about... |

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | You know what MJ-I forgot you said that it had been painted over. Yes you need to scrape--we had the same problem in one house, and my husband rented a steamer. It gave off more steam than the iron did, but we still had to scrape. It did loosen it. Renting it will get it done in the "rental"time!! You are still going to have to go back and scrub with the green scrapie thingees. That is fun. :-(

Let it loosen a couple of minutes, then let them go at it!!

I was up and had checked in already when you'd started the thread, Angie. Jeremy has pink eye, so I had to hang out long enough to call in a script for him. Now I'm at work, catching up from the long weekend.

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | Yup, again. But at least it's only the first time this year. I was really hoping I'd make it through the summer without getting into any at all, but that didn't work out so well.
The whole thing is, Nick had to clean up back behind our fence where we know there is poison ivy. We've killed most of it with Roundup, but I can still get the rash. So we were really careful - Nick had to do all the cleaning by himself (aw shucks ), we cleaned all the tools he used with Fels Naptha, and he put his clothes straight into the washer. The only thing I cand figure is that when I went back to talk to him at one point, I brushed up against some of the stuff in the wheelbarrow, and then later helped him lift the wheelbarrow into the back of the truck. I thought it was all sticks and such, but there must have been an old, dead plant in there that got me.
We tried to be so careful so I wouldn't get it, and Nick feels really bad about it now. He's totally immune so he can grab it and pull it up, which is nice for getting rid of it, but sucks if he doesn't clean up good enough and quick enough.
So far it's only on my right forearm and wrist, and I'm hoping it doesn't pop up anywhere else. Last year was the worst when I got it between my toes.

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | Ouch Max. My hubby is a magnet for it. Me too. But he just dives in and does the clean up, he claims he wears gloves and is careful but I don't know. And it seems the more we try to get rid of it, the more we get. Take care of yourself.

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | Thanks, I'm trying. We're getting a handle on it, between the Roundup and Nick pulling it out. What we really need to do is finish cleaning behind the fence (previous owners dumped all kinds of junk back there) and then keep on top of it whenever it starts to creep up. Luckily, it stays behind the fence, and I never really have to go back there, but I'd still rather not have it growing back there regardless of whether have to go back there or not.

| | Re Geez, anybody awake yet?? | | Pee on it. I'm serious. Have him "water the bushes" every day before bed, even in spots you've cleaned up already. Human pee kills the seeds and roots. |
