| | that should not be used in the same sentence: gardening, Florida, Summer
Unless the sentence is "Never garden in Florida during the summer."
I had a life and death battle with the front hedge this afternoon. I won, but it was touch and go for a while there. The hedge put up quite a fight.
It's friggin hot out there!! |

| | For this week, you can include here, too. It made it up to either 103 or 104 with a heat index of well over 110.

| | It is awful here too, and today our central a/c died. The repair man came and hopefully will be back tomorrow with a part. In the mean time, we are in the sauna.

| | Here too, supposed to be an air temp of over 100 this weekend, and the heat index has been in the 105-110 all week. And go figure, hottest week of the summer, and it's my week to drive (no A/C).

| | The repair men just left. My a/c is back. It is like a sauna outside. The humidity is horrible.

| | I just came in on a forced break. Genius to garden at noon. I'm trying to dig (read - slamming at rocks with a metal spade). I've got down about 6 inches - in an hour. They forgot to tell me that there is no soil in Florida - just limestone. Fun. No really. |

| | How the heck are you supposed to dig a 3 foot hole for the root ball, when after 6 inches you hit rock!? |

| | Um, you aren't? Can you start with a smaller plant and let the roots establish in the limestone? |

| | How about a garden party? As in, invite friends and neighbours. You set up the napkins for pizza and the glasses with umbrellas for the drinks, and they dig? |

| | Bring in dirt, make a pile, and dig a hole in that.
I went out and murdered weeds (read, sprayed this horrible WeedBGone stuff that is supposed to kill the damn vines in my grass) and hosed off Mario. I was literally dripping with sweat after 10 minutes.
I like the heat, but I don't really appreciate practically standing still and sweating. YUCK.

| | You make me appreciate my condo so much!
I do have a little area to plant stuff in that I haven't touched yet. I'd rather spend the money on decorations inside than outside at this point, but, I'm sure next year I'll be out there with some flowers.
Oh, and I have some flowering bushes that someone else comes and takes care of for me. Unfortunately no one comes to do the inside for me. My friends have said I've become obsessed with cleaning (but I really don't think cleaning the whole place once a week is much...) | | |
