It started to load super-fast, then suddenly went blank and showed (not responding) in the window title bar, then after a lag it was finally all visible.

Same thing happens when i click links from your blog page to open other log entries of yours from your main page; slows IE down so much that other IE windows (windows for other sites already open, like this one) also don't respond. I'm using a cable modem connection FYI.

I thought that too, but the other blogs never get complaints running the same, or more, ads. I'm wondering if it is the design? Which would suck because I like the design... lol |

It's not the number... it's the servers. Depending on WHAT ads you are running...
Also, aren't you running a MBL widget? |

Yes, but the other blogs using the MBL, the MOG and the ads don't get the same complaints of slow loading that Smoke Rings does. Not all of my blogs have MBL and MOG, but several do. |

If I do absolutely nothing else after clicking your link in the first post, your site comes up in about 45 seconds (timed by slow counting). The top of the page, complete with pictures, comes up very fast, followed quickly by "site search" and a couple other items on the right column. I get "done" in the status bar at the bottom of the window, but when I try to scroll down, nothing happens for another 20-30 seconds, then I am suddenly mid-page. I get another lag with an additional attempt to scroll down and then once that resolves, it's good to surf. (This is from work computer with T1.) I don't know how to tell what is hanging up the loading so thought maybe a timeline would help you pinpoint what's slowing it.

Oh - just scrolled down the page again (without refreshing) and here it is, 3-4 minutes later and under "Currently listening" there's a white window that says "loading..." with MOG on the bottom. It's still not done.

bummer - I really like my Mog, too. Hmmm. I'll ask their techies if there is a different widget I can use that loads faster. | |
