| | 3 A.M. + a too-small bed = ? | | I feel like a complete idiot. What sober person FALLS OUT OF BED?
I'm used to a king-sized bed. My grandmother has a full-size bed now. 3 o'clock Saturday morning, Erin comes and wakes me up because she was hungry and couldn't sleep.
I thought I had more room than I really had. I fell out of the bed. And hit the end of my eyebrow on the side table.
Don't I look purty?
The top one is just a scab - it made a knot to start with, but ice brought down most of the swelling, but it did actually scrape the skin, although it never bled. Tonight at church a couple of people noticed my eye, and I was wondering how since I didn't think the scrape was all that noticeable in my eyebrow plus hiding behind the top edge of my glasses. That scrape is the spot I actually hit.
I looked in a mirror after church and found all the other stuff - that's bruising! Dark purple! The bottom streak is in the outer crease of my eye and is at least a half inch long. Weird thing is, I hit it early Saturday morning, the bruising was not there early afternoon today, it didn't bruise up until really late this afternoon!

You must have hit it hard! The bruise is deep and took time to show.
I hope it doesn't hurt too much!!! |

It's embarrassing, too- I know, I fell out of bed constantly after my accident. Until I got Libby, in fact, and then she stopped me. Want to borrow Libby next time you go? |

Let's just say my grandmother and animals only get along from a couple hundred yards apart.

If it makes you feel better I had quite the falling out of bed episode when I was a teenager.
I had a bed that was quite fashionable at the time: it was a twin size mattress on a track that pulled out from under cabinetry that ran along one long side. That way it doubled as a sofa and storage.
One night I must have tossed and turned quite a bit, because the track had pulled out to it's furthest reaches. One particular turn had me sliding completely off the bed. But instead of falling alongside the free side, I roll off under the cabinet.
I awoke with the bed on my left, a wall to my right, staring up in the darkness at the bottom of a wooden cabinet.
It's a good thing I was young. If it happened now I think I'd wind up in a coffin for real.

| | Re 3 A.M. + a too-small bed = ? | | SARA!
Okay, I did fall off my bed once as a teen, too, but it was a better excuse that time. I had a captain's bed, a HIGH one, not the kind that's called a captain's bed these days. The underneath part (drawers and shelves) was about two and a half feet high, with box springs and mattress on top of that. I was reaching for something one day when I didn't feel like climbing down, getting the object, then climbing back up. It was too far away. I fell off stomach first, sliding down the side like an otter down a riverbank.
Sorry, Sara, I'm still chuckling!

| | Re 3 A.M. + a too-small bed = ? | | Oh, no, no, no. It's slightly yellow and green now. And when I woke up this morning, it's puffy. And bruised underneath. That dark circle underneath in the above photo is my normal under-eye dark circle. I've had them all my life. Now it's purple over there.
And starting last night, I noticed that the whole side of my face hurts down the to jawline just under my ear, if I push on it. I have a small knot under my ear. Nothing hurts as long as I leave it alone, though.
I may have to go to the doctor. It's probably just swelling and bruising from the trauma of it all, but it won't stop getting worse, I may have to rule out a hairline crack or something.
