Forecasters on Saturday issued the West Coast's first hurricane-force wind warning for coastal waters from this evening through Monday morning. A tropical storm will pound much of the Northwest today and Monday with heavy rain, as well as heavy snow in the mountains and Columbia Gorge, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say the hardest winds will hit along the coast of northern Oregon and southwest Washington. Gusts of up to 100 mph are expected to buffet headlands and beaches by early Monday.
I live 60 miles inland, so the winds shouldn't get much above 50 mph and it's getting gusty already. I don't have a fireplace to sit in front of, so I'm making do with a candle and a dog.

LOL, yes - no electricity at home right now, so I came up to Salem to work on grades. It's soooo windy and rainy out there. None of the coast roads are open in the northern half of the state, so I think it's still a good day to stay home. Unless there's no electricity and your laptop has a 15 minute battery life.
