| | We are supposed to get snow tonight. I have heard 1-3" of slush, 2-8" of snow, and 3-5" of snow so far. In any case, the supermarkets were mobbed as of 8am, according to the church Sunday School leader, and there was no milk at the big store I went to at 2pm. (OK, let's all say it together, "OMG, it's going to snow, we're all gonna die.") The car wash was a ghost town, however
I mentioned to the Confirmation Class that Hubby the Teacher prays for snow days every Sunday. The kids told me he needs to 1) sleep with a spoon under his pillow or 2) put his pajamas on backwards and run around the house a few times. As desparate as Hubby is for a snow day, something tells me he won't be doing the second activity (not only because he doesn't own any pajamas), although he may slip a spoon under his pillow when I'm not looking. But this is the first I've heard these old wives' tales (old students' tales?) about brining on a snow day, and the kids all seemed to know them, even though they're at different schools.

| | I have never heard the spoon, but it is worth a try. Philadelphia here desperate for a snow day, but thinking we are gonna miss on this one. Mr. MJ might be lucky this time.

In our case, that's the whole building... it's not the cats' expressions that would make me laugh!

| | This is just too bizarre. (Not Mr. MJ, the make-it-snow myths.) Where I grew up, there was so much snow every winter that there would have had to have been a flat-out blizzard to keep people at home. The snowplow would go buy, plow our cars in after Dad had shoveled them out, and he would shovel them out again. We didn't need a magic mantra for snow. (Dad's became: Must Move to Florida.)

| | OMG... I had forgotten all about the spoon until now! Heh. My mother would find 5 or 6 I'd forget about when I woke up and would end up under the bed.
Helen, I hear ya. We almost NEVER close for snow. |

| | Oh, and PS: there is not a SINGLE FLAKE OF SNOW anywhere - nothing on the pavement, nothing on the cars in the parking lot, nothing on the grass. If I want to see flakes I have to find some old man wearing a dark suit and check out his shoulders.

| | Wow... I should be on the road right now. I haven't even phoned in yet to say I am giving myself a delayed start. I should do that now. I'm so afraid to drive on normal days right now, let alone a snowy one.
They're showing Hartford, CT on Good Morning America right now. I hate snow. Why can't I be in LI like MJ? |

| | According to Environment Canada, it is currently snowing. According to the collies, it's raining, and they're wet and muddy. Weather like this almost makes me wish we had snow. Almost. I wonder how collies would like Islamorada? |

| | It's sleeting here. Just these teeny-tiny little ice balls. Nothing serious at the moment, but boy it's rare down here! (We have hail more often than we have sleet or snow.)

| | We're supposed to have somewhere between 2 and 8 inches tonite....since there's probably already 2 inches on the ground, and the big storm hasn't hit yet, I'm guessing more around 8.
Snow day tomorrow.
And hubby is still fluish, but has to go in and plow.

| | Uh. Ain't gonna happen here either, I'm thinking. Storm seems to have either lost steam or it went south.
Sent the child to bed at the usual time, much to his dismay.
