deep dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all,
Gloom, despair, and agony on me!!!
So I got strep and I had to deal with FIL suddenly showing signs of dementia/alzheimers, and then I had business trips around the state, and then I got sick again (just a cold this time) and today Hubby tears out an eighth of his cornea.

OUT. Gone. But the doc says it will heal over  Mind you, this morning he woke me up as he was leaving at 6:30am and said, "I haven't slept all night, my eye was killing me at 2am and I don't know why." I said "You have to go to the emergency room!" He said "I have to go to work, it's too late to call a sub."  So then this afternoon he said maybe he would go see his parent's doctor tomorrow, I said maybe he should see our ophthalmologist tonight. The eye doc was able to fit him in tonight and viola. Big-ass hole in his cornea.

He says he woke up with his fist in his eye - apparently his eye was really itchy with allergies or something, then he woke up and felt like something was in it, except it hurt like hell.
Margo, he says the kids kept asking if he was ok and if he was crying. His eye being irritated had his nose running like a faucet, he couldn't teach, couldn't sit still, and was basically nutso all day. But at least he didn't have to call a sub!  MEN!!!!!

I can't imagine how he made it all day. He must have been in even a small amount of pain. I get allergy attacks in my eyes, but never so bad!! Could he have gotten something into his eye???
What now? Does he need a transplant? Willit heal?? How awful. I hope he is planning to take off tomorrow.

Yeah, men! And you can't smack him upside of the head because of the cornea.
Around here, Marty is going into his third week of a "virus" stand off. The sore throat, high fever, etc. went away, and he's not coughing as much as he usually does when he recovers from bronchitis by himself, but he could cough like this for months. No, he's fine. No need to go to the clinic.

Much better. The eye ointment is very soothing, he says. Sensitive to light though, which messed up his NCAA championship watching last night.

My husband has done this twice. We never knew what actually caused it. Luckily, they weren't in his line of vision. Took several days but he actually recovered quickly. But those couple of days were an eternity for me.

OMG! Poor Mr. MJ, that hurts like crazy! I am amazed he didn't go to the ER. I've scratched my corneas really badly a couple of times due to allergies/scratching in my sleep, and I got up and was pacing until my optometrist's office opened. There is nothing like those numbing eyedrops.
I hope he's feeling better. I hope you're feeling better, too! |

I am beginning to think I am a jinx. A coworker just got back to town from a trip to South Carolina on Skybus - landed 8pm Friday night, then the airline folded at midnight and she had to struggle for over a day to get a flight back to NY. Another coworker fell up (yes, up) the subway stairs yesterday and messed up her leg badly. I will not, however, take responsibility for the man in the unit three floors up from me who had the police and fire department break into his apartment yesterday because he missed his dialysis appointment and the hospital thought he was dead.

MJ-I had a horrible sinus headache yesterday. I missed a Home and School meeting because of it. Today my allergies are starting and I had to start my eyedrops. I guess you are responsible for all of it.
