| | May I ask why you would want a diesel engine? At almost .60 more a gallon it is going to have to get very good gas mileage.
What I want is for someone to figure out how to suck the fuel from my hips, thighs and buttocks to fuel my diesel. Then we'd be talkin'.

| | Diesel engines last FOREVER.
But don't get my DH in a discussion on diesel fuel and why it's more expensive (by far) than regular or ethanol. According to him (and I have no idea, so I have to buy his opinion) diesel costs less to process, and should be less expensive (it was for years, it's only in recent year or two that it's been more).

| | I bet Brian can remember the details better, but it's something about changing the diesel fuel to lower sulfur emissions - and the price jumped dramatically when they had to start doing that.

Oh, I know about diesel engines lasting FOREVER, that is why one is parked in my garage right now. Big selling point.
No, Melanie, the reason the price of diesel soared above gasoline is because we bought a diesel. I feel so sorry for what I've done to everyone.

| | Gas dropped to $4.21. How sad... they have you think you're getting a bargain when you're paying 2x as much as you should be paying. Jerks. |

Everyone thought I was nuts for doing so until I compared the milage when hauling my trailer. Turns out that my milage stays the same loaded as unloaded at 15 mpg. The half ton was getting around 16 when empty and 8 when I was hooked up.
I agree with your DH on the price. Diesel is a by-product of gasoline. |

How are you calculating that? | Oh... that's not a real figure.
That's the "we used to pay $2 before the prices went crazy, so it won't be normal again til we're back down there" figure. |

| | I got all excited when we had a chance to fill up in NJ on Sunday. It was an amazing deal at $3.97. It's $4.32 here.
I'll be back in Jersey next weekend in a different car. I'm going to run on fumes until then if I have to.
