| | It's the Summer Solstice today! The longest day of the year!!! How are you celebrating?
My office is marking the First Day of Summer by going to Summer Hours, which means we leave at 4pm on Fridays

| | Donated platelets. Of course that has nothing to do with the solstice, but hey, it killed a couple of hours of daylight.

| | Nah. I just have a high platelet count. It's sort of my responsibility to share the wealth.

| | Watching the storm clouds roll through.
Making pizza for two teenaged boys.
Watching Wild Hogs on STARZ during my "free" weekend.
Drinking some wine.
Scratching the dog.
Boy, don't you wish you were me???

| | I called in sick to work. First time in ages. After a whopping dose of prednisone, I feel enough better to almost feel guilty. I would feel guilty if I could keep my temperature below 101. At least I can move enough air to wheeze tonight. That's worth celebrating.

| | Made 8 quarts of hamburger stew, looked for cheap airfares to Florida. Forgot about the Solstice. Every year I intend to go to Henry Ford's estate in Michigan to watch the sun set on the Solstice; the view off the terrace was landscaped to have the sun setting over water, between an avenue of trees, on this date only.

| | Busy day for me - worked all day trying to figure out how to set up a form in InfoPath that would dump data into an Excel worksheet (in between visits to EA), then drove up to Portland for the last class with a group of algebra students. No more Friday night classes until the end of July and that will feel good. Afterwards, I went over to Shane's apartment and we sat up and talked until 3, then drove down to Salem this morning for a math/stats lab. No students, so I'm getting some grading done.

| | So, on day two of summer...
I made several soldered pendants and some earrings. Quite pleased with them. Some have something of an Asian look - I really like them a lot.
Picked about 4c of cherries off our cherry tree and pitted them...I'm not sure what to make, but am working on finding recipes that have ingredients that I already have at home.
Weeded and raked gardens...there is one that desperately needed to be cleaned, but there is a snake that lives in there....using the rake, I made sure it was not "home" before cleaning it up.
Updated my etsy shop and a little bit on my web site this morning. Gads I hate doing web site work.

| | We had a lovely day two of summer today. We were thinking there were some outlet malls in West Point, GA so we decided on the spur of the moment to head that way. Didn't find anything, ended up going on to Pine Mountain, GA. At lunch, drove on to Warm Springs (home of "The Little White House", FDR's vacation retreat where would go to soak in the springs for his health). Didn't go to The Little White House, but did visit a fish hatchery there and saw some fish, geese, turtles, baby crocs and a nest of baby egrets of some kind - the babies were so close I could have touched them if I'd stretched enough!
It was nice to go "home" for a few hours.
