We were pretty lucky and found a plumber that was able to put in a check valve (which was missing) and we had them install a water pressure back up (rather than a battery backup).
This way, if the power goes out, we will have another means for the sump to be emptied out.
The forecast, well, it doesn't seem like anything's on radar yet (and they thought it would have been here about 10pm and it's 11:30 now), but it was to be here throughout the night into the 4 - 6 am time, so a long night.
Luckliy, the sump's repaired, quieter than normal and was this week.
A few weeks ago, with all of the flooding here in Iowa, you couldn't find a sump pump in a 100 mile radius as everyone wanted one to help keep their homes from flooding. They forecasters say that our normal precip is about 3 inches for the month, we are at 12 inches & climbing.
