| | The World Series kicks off tonight with Mike Mussina pitching for the Yanks and Curt Schilling for the Diamondbacks. Both of them have been awesome, so it'll probably be a low-scoring game ... I'll say it'll go 2-1 in Arizona's favor.
Any other thoughts, cheers, taunts, etc.?

| | Ouch!
And I was going to list my Mike Mussina/Orioles pennants on eBay again starting tomorrow if he had a good game. Oh well, there's always game 4 - even in a sweep. |

| | Guess I should keep my day job ... final tally Diamondbacks 9, Yankees 1.
Well, one side was low-scoring, anyway.

| | Game 2 of the series is Sunday afternoon. Randy Johnson's pitching for Arizona, Andy Pettite for New York. A story on Yahoo has a good quote from Pettite about having to face Johnson in the batter's box.
I think the Yanks will take this one (in a real squeaker this time), 2-1. Anyone else?

| | Remember the old saying, "Spahn and Sain and two days of rain?" I keep trying to come up with "Schilling and Johnson and two days of ----", but am drawing a blank! |

| | Aagh, wrong again. 4-0, win for Arizona. Good thing I'm not a betting woman.
Looks like the Diamondbacks are more than Schilling and Johnson after all -- though both have just shut down the Yankee batters so far. If Clemens doesn't do well in Game 3, New York's gonna be in big trouble.

| | Finally, a 2-1 game!
I was actually hoping Clemens would do well ... I still want the Diamondbacks to win, but I didn't want the Series over quite that early.

| | | Sending out Curt Schilling early is going to be a mistake.
This is a 7 game series, and two appearances by Curt and Big Unit will wipe out those pinstriped peckerheads soon enough. You can lose two and still keep some semblance of morale going, even if the NY-centered national media overhypes the 9/11 factor and the 0-2 comeback history.
When can we get back to hating New York again?

He had like 85 pitches, and two thirds of them were strikes. The guy was on fire - his last pitch was 97 miles per hour to strike out Justice (yet again).
Kim played well, but you can pitch an 80 mile an hour ball right down the pipe and expect people (world series people at least) not to hit it. |

| | | Oh for crying out loud... we're never going to hear the end of this crap.
I am going to unplug the TV and radio for a week if these jackasses win because the goddamned media is going to be all over the weepy, sappy link to 9/11. People on TV aren't journalists... they're poet-whores. They will see connections in this thing that not even a paranoia on weed would see.
Causal effect? HEY! A PLANE SMASHED INTO D.C. AND EVEN WITH JORDAN THE WIZARDS STILL BLOW DOGS!
If any NY-er gets in my face about having the Yankees as hometown heroes, I'll merely remind them that:
1) None of the Yankees would run into a burning building and rescue someone, possibly at the cost of their own life. They are lauding the wrong heroes AS USUAL.
2) For every Derek Jeter, there is a wuss run-away snailtrail Rosie O'Donnell in that city. (There's also a loonbag crazy old man Dan Rather, too)
3) If Yankee Stadium is such a hallowed holy m-f-ing shrine, why is the team demanding a new stadium and the city building them one? How is Jesus going to come down from Heaven, have is second coming at the House That Ruth Built, and give special blessings and RapidFlappyPasses to all New Yorkers so they go to Heaven first?
4) Steinbrenner is still an a-hole. Go back to #3 to see an example of Corporate Welfare in action.
Schilling said to the press that he was exhausted when he came out... 3-day rest is not enough for modern day mega-wuss pitchers. Now the rotation is blown, the 2 easy-wins for Big Unit and Schilling are toast, D-Backs don't have anything left. One more win from Big Unit, and then the pinstriped bastards take the rings.
As Lewis Black would say... "It's bullshit!" |
