| | It's been one of those days when your head is about to explode. When your brain just can't handle one more problem or challenge.
Sometime in the afternoon, I realized that it would be a long day. I called Brian and told him that I would be working late and would need booze.
Then I went back to my probl.....opportunities.
One after the other. Oy! Finally, I called the boss, who was out of town today. Mid conversation she got the e-mail we've been waiting for. Our contract is signed and we'll have it tomorrow. Suddenly this became a great day! This is really really wonderful news.
Of course it means that my incredible work load is now even more, and that there is no light at the end of the tunnel until....say..... March - but its all good.
So, after working 11 hours on what should have been an all nighter at the office, I came home.
Brian, dear that he is, took my call to heart. He went to the liquor store. He went to Pier One. We have fancy martini glasses. We have a martini shaker. We have booze and chocoate syrup and sugary glass rims and chocolate shavings and a nice buzz with half the first glass left.
I will have another long long day tomorrow, but right now all is well. |

| | Brian's Chocolate Martini (makes two large martinis)
2/3 cup Godiva dark chocolate liqueur (chilled)
2/3 cup Creme de Cacao liqueur (chilled)
1/2 cup Absolut Vanilla vodka (ice cold)
1 cup half and half
Pour over ice, shake, strain into glass.
I garnish the rim of the glass with Hershey's chocolate and dip it into natural sugar crystals, drizzle some Hershey's syrup into the glass, and then shave dark chocolate on top of the martini.
Tastes like chocolate milk and then sneaks up on you.

| | On the subject, from a comment at my favorite car blog - Jalopnik. Quote:
A recent study conducted by Harvard University found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study by the American Medical Association found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year.
This means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.
Makes you proud to be an American.

| | Well, let's see... the only alcohol I ever consume is the occasional bit found in Nyquil. So I must get hundreds of miles to the gallon!

(And I'm not even sure you can count Nyquil anymore. They made it no good when it went from 40% to 10% alcohol.)

| | I'm not sure I ever had the 40% stuff. Wow. Just the 10% stuff usually makes me pleasantly sleepy. No buzz, just sleepy.

I don't even buy it anymore. I guess if you never experienced it then you wouldn't miss it. Sigh. I kind of get chills just thinking about those good old days. I'm sure my mom didn't abuse it. Really. I mean she wouldn't do that, right? Mom?

| | I love this recipe, and have most of the makings at home. I will have to chill the vodka...do you think if I use X Rated Vodka it would matter?
Sounds YUMMMMMMMY.
Wormie, I noticed that your finger must have been a bit fuzzy too!

Sounds YUMMMMMMMY. | Whatever vodka you love is the best for this recipe. I Absolut, so that's what I use. Vanilla-infused vodka tempers the flavor just a bit, but if I were making it for myself I'd probably use straight vodka.
