Which is correct?
I have two pairs of socks?
or
I have two pair of socks?
I could look it up, but its more fun to ask here. |

My gut instinct is that either is correct, but "pairs" is the common usage nowadays. This seems to back me up: pair: Definition, Synonyms and Much More from Answers.com Quote: |

Well the definition says either would work in that situation, but what about pants?
I bought three pairs of pants.
or

I mean, a pair of pants isn't really a pair anyway, so now I'm just all confused haha.
