I don't have anything to say Wormie, other than OMG. It was so spectacular, I don't even have words to say what I feel yet. OMG.
I cried my eyes out through the second act.

| | I'd go back tomorrow. We bought a program too. There is just so much to the story. The music I knew would be incredible, and it was. It was just so freaking good.

| | I am still crying at the thought of Jean singing his prayer. That really broke me up. And the one statement....When you look into the eyes of someone you love, you see the face of God.
I really lost it on that one.

| | LOL
Was my favorite in High School. I even had cassettes that were in french and would sing along to those too. Haven't heard/seen it in long time. I only saw it once live -- on Broadway. Debbie Gibson was ill that day so we saw her understudy.
I just was watching Heart Full of Love on youtube but I hated the Eponine. Eponine was always my favorite, because she was an alto and therefore easier for me to sing along with. Plus, I just liked her character more than Cosette.
A long, long, long time ago I met someone online. He was Gavroche in the Broadway production at the time. He sent me autographed pictures. I wish I had kept them (doh!) |

I saw it 11 times, and I know what you mean. Some of the actors were better than others in roles, but I loved the show every time! |

| | Cosette is a wuss. Eponine rocks.
Mama Mia...ooh, I'd rather gouge out my eardrums with a pliers.
I have Les Miz on my iPod, and one of the songs came up today while some typical Counciltucky ladies were shopping.

| | Evidently, as I read the program and playbill, the theatre where we saw it today, added many special effects--there was no circular turntable?? But instead set changes were worked into the performance. Lots of lighting specials, and there is a whole article at how the costumes were upgraded. The neat part is all costumes were made in Philadelphia--neat for us because it was all "home". I'll try to find the write up since this is the only production I know I don't really know what is different.
Hugh Panero played Jean Valjean. His voice was incredible.
Wormie--I am trying to figure out the little boy. Who was he?? Seems his role was tragic, yet heroic. His is the picture on all the bookings.

| Interesting. Yes he is the little boy. I didn't pick up any of that information from the play. He did hand the letter to Eponine, which is one of the changes in the musical. Interesting.

| | Have you seen the size of the book? They had to cut a bit out in order to make it flow on stage |

| | I read the book and it's a great book as well. I have no idea why a character who had no real significant part or bearing on the play is so prominent on the advertisements though. |

| | I've read it as well. Well, most of it. When it got to the bit about Thenardier's time in the war I zoned out and skipped over to the main story. But yes, it is very long!
And it does seem odd to focus on Gavroche on the advertisements. Cosette is usually the standard ad person. Maybe they wanted to be different?

| | I am thinking that he was the focus because he was such a major part of the uprising, and died, making his role even more tragic. I am also thinking that he is the focus of the advertising, because it is a face easily remembered, sad and tragic. I dont' know.
Hubby and I just listened to the soundtrack, it is interesting to realize in retrospect what happened. Hubby didn't realize that Javert (sp) jumped off a bridge. My program says this scene was one of the most difficult to rework. There was a bridge the entire length of the stage, and the entire stage was filled with smoke. When he jumped, it looked like the real thing. He jumped into the smoke, so I am guessing there was something "soft" to catch him!!!
I absolutely loved this, and Wormie, I do understand why you would want to see this over and over again.

| | I went to a friend's funeral a couple of months ago and he had requested 'I Dreamed A Dream' to be sung at the service. Also, 'Time To Say Goodbye.' It was beautiful. My friend loved Les Miserables. |
