| | After unpacking many many many boxes, and trying to keep the mountains of bubble wrap, foam peanuts, and paper in check, Brian told me I should take a crochet and EA break (I miss you guys, and my cousin in expecting a baby girl in a few weeks, so I need to make this sweater fast!). ( oh, and don't worry about our mountains of packing material - we're sorting it all by type and taking it to the recycling center).
The house is still a mess, but it's starting to really come together. I think it's looking pretty great!
The lawn, on the other hand, is FUBAR! The grass didn't take, and the lawn is very very very patchy. The crab-grass, on the other hand, is thriving! It started to look like wheat waving in the wind. So despite the fact that we have no real grass to mow, we had to go out Friday night and buy a lawn mower.
Yesterday while I was tackling the dining room, Brian went out to tackle the lawn - or the patchy thing that we hope someday will be our lawn. He finished, and I went out front to see how he liked the mower. He said he liked it a lot, but was disgusted with the dirt and rock pit that was our "lawn". That's when I let out a gasp, and mumbled "Someone broke into my car!". Snorky's back window was shattered!!!
We live in a very nice neighborhood. Nobody smashed my window. A rock from the "lawn" was kicked up by the mower and went right through the back window. What a mess!!!
It looked like it was going to rain so we had to get Snorky inside. Of course the garage was still full of boxes! So we worked hard to clear room for Snorky, who will need to go somewhere this week to get some new glass. Looks like Brian will be driving me to work till we get the poor Snork fixed. |

On the bright side, rock gardens can be lovely.

| | It wasn't Brian's fault - just one of those freak accidents. Poor Brian felt terrible about it - it never would have occured to me to take the cars out of the driveway! I did think about how fast that rock must have been flying, and what if it hit a person!!!! That would really hurt!!
Snorky will have a new window tomorrow morning. Do the installers clean up the glass? The whole inside of the car is filled with little pieces!!! That concerns me. We have a shot vac, but there are a lot of small pieces of glass to be picked up. |

| | I guess you'll find out how thorough the installers are. It seems to me that they OUGHT to at least try to clean up the glass. At least it's safety glass, so those little pieces shouldn't be sharp.

| | The cemetery where I worked before getting married had trouble from time to time getting people to understand the rules about not using wires to stake down plant pots and whatnot. Our office building had a stucco finish outside, and one day someone cutting grass on the property next door flung up a piece of crumpled up wire that buried itself in the stucco with a decent sized hole. After that, any time someone complained about not being able to put wire up on the graves, we'd take them outside, show them the hole and ask them if they really wanted to take the chance of that happening to one of our workers or to someone visiting in the grounds while the grass was being cut. Funnily enough, that always shut people up.

| | Wow, Melanie! I think that most people don't realize how dangerous some things can be until something bad happens.
Brian used the shop vac to get out the glass. Hopefully it's all out. It's not sharp, but I hate to think of little hidden dangers in Snorky! |

| | Tell the glass people to check for more - they're experienced in knowing where all that stuff can end up and might find some Bri missed. (The glass people always did the glass vacuuming as part of their service when I've had broken windows.)
