I'm going to The Cities this afternoon with the boy and the dingo. We plan to
Eat things on a stick and Scotch Eggs (which technically are not served on a stick, but evidently so at the Fair)
Drink wine and eat BBQ on the patio (no linky thing, it's at the 'rents house and I don't think they'd appreciate that...) Fight off Republicans (think I should wear a t-shirt that says "I'm an Independent, my vote goes to the highest bidder"  ) Look at chainmaille and eat more Scotch Eggs (I  Scotch Eggs)
What a way to celebrate American Labor.

Lynn, what are Scotch Eggs??? I have never heard of them.
I am starting off my weekend with a trip to the hairdresser!! Cut and Color baby.!

Butterscotch cake on a stick sounds interesting!
Angie, scotch eggs are hard-boiled eggs, wrapped up in sausage, then rolled in breadcrumbs. Then you deep-fry them. I've always wanted to try one, even though I don't care much for boiled eggs outside of tuna/chicken salad.

I have never heard of them. They sound interesting. Funny Melanie, it is the sausage part that I am not a fan.

OMG, they are to die for.
The ones at the Ren Fest have no coating. Just yummy sausage and egg. I'm sure you could get them as vegetarian too. 
My family is enamoured with Scotch Eggs, the SIL, not so much. She's goofy but we love her. Quote from my brother when we were talking about the fair a few weeks ago. It started out by my saying "You can't get a good Scotch Egg around here." Quote: | dale said

I said "holy crap, scotch eggs!", threw the hotdish on a stick aside and literally ran down to satiate my yearning. |

Tater Tots and Meatballs alternated on a stick, then coated and deep fried. Never tried 'em, but I have seen them! |

I'd luvs me some Scotch Eggs. I find that it mostly depends on the sausage flavor as to how high they rank. |

Scotch eggs? I've never encountered them. Must be a regional thing.
I just checked the menu at our local Ren Faire. No Scotch Eggs there. And only one vendor with a very limited assortment of stuff on a stick.
I'll have to remember to ask Chip if he's heard of them.

Well, they look better than Rocky Mountain Oysters.
Which I've never eaten, aren't available on a stick, and I don't ever PLAN on eating....

Actually, our Ren Fest's scotch eggs are really good. I've had them where the sausage isn't really cooked and served cold. Now those are gross! |

LOL Margo, the Iowa State Fair was last weekend. They had salad on a stick, which was just odd to me.
This is the Minnesota State Fair, which I grew up with. And if you ever watch Bizaare Foods on TFN, it's been profiled.

Ok - I admit that I'm a vegetarian so my tastes are not necessarily those of the masses, but Scotch Eggs sound repulsive. Chocolate covered bacon sounds even more repulsive. I understand that people need fried food on a stick, but..... yuck.
