| | BEFORE READING FURTHER, look around your office or bedroom and answer some questions:
Is your office/bedroom more...?
a) conventional, ordinary
or
b) distinctive, stylish
a) modern
or
b) traditional
a) untidy, disheveled, cluttered
or
b) clean, organized, uncluttered What your room looks like may give observers an idea of your political leanings, according to a study report to be published in the Journal of Political Psychology. Quote:
Liberals' offices were judged as significantly more distinctive, comfortable, stylish, modern, and colorful and as less conventional and ordinary, in comparison with conservatives' offices, Jost said.
...
"Conservative rooms tended to be cleaner, more brightly lit, better organized, less cluttered, and also more conventional and ordinary in terms of decoration," Jost said during a panel discussion on "The Neuroscience of Elections and Human Decision-Making" at NYU, adding: "Conservatives' rooms were rated by independent raters as better organized and tidier in general." |

| | Re Room decor and politics | | I have no idea what even most of those terms mean as far as decor. I'm very retarded when it comes to decor! My MIL decorates for me. Yes, my home and office look like a nice conservative woman in her 60s decorated.
But my office is clean for the most part with only some clutter.

| | Re Room decor and politics | | Our bedroom furniture is very traditional, but the room is somewhat cluttered. Not sure what that means. |

| | Re Room decor and politics | | I'm way too impartial to tell if I am any of those things, other than the one about being messy.
Everything is red, beige, or brown, in every room except my bathroom (which is "old lace" (very light yellow) and blue. My main living areas are tidy (because I cleaned tonight lol) but the storage areas are a disheveled chaotic mess. The artwork are all in my colors (see above) but are an eclectic mix (or at least I'd like to think so) representing art and ideas from all over the world.
I'm a former republican. Does my home reflect that?
In my cube you can barely find my desk. I wouldn't have all that stuff on my desk if I could fit more into my whopping 2 filing cabinet drawer. I suppose that shows my liberal leanings. |

| | Re Room decor and politics | | They specified bedrooms and office areas in the study, so I wouldn't factor in the storage area and bathroom.

| | Re Room decor and politics | | Ok, bedroom has clothes on the dresser that I still haven't managed to put away, but my laundry is pre-sorted in the three bin hamper. LOL. My bedroom is semi organized?
My cube at work... forgedaboudit.
I also read somewhere that people with messy desks are more efficient. Really organized people waste more time trying to keep organized. Is there a correlation between conservative and time-wasters? |

| | Re Room decor and politics | | Lol- my cube at work is super organized. I keep finding people sitting in it while I am gone, only to have them state "I didn't think anyone used this cube because it was so empty". My home is a massively cluttered mess. What does that say about my politics? |

| | Re Room decor and politics | | Now if this weren't the Water Cooler, I'd ask how kicking the press off the Straight Talk Express bus fits into the model.
