Six-Word Memoirs

As part of my Rabbi's really wonderful sermon this Rosh Hashanah, she included some congregants submissions to her Six-Word Memoir challenge.

I hadn't heard of the Six-Word Memoir book before the Rabbi discussed it. Apparently, it stemmed from a challenge to Earnest Hemmingway to tell a story in just 6 words.

His story:

"For Sale: Baby shoes, never worn"

I think that's a really sad story, but that he rose to the challenge.

The book includes submissions from famous people and everyday folk and include things like:

"Not quite what I was planning"
and
"I still make coffee for two"

Some are funny, some are poignant, some are sad.

Here's a video showing some
. I'll bet this group can come up with some great ones of our own.

Re Six-Word Memoirs

That reminds me of 55 Fiction - similar concept, but a little more involved and several rules that must be followed.

We had a thread here about it a long, long while back. I can't seem to locate it. Must have been pruned some time ago.

Anyway, my 6 word memoir for today:

Two Advils consumed; margarita for lunch.

I thought it sounded familiar, MJ!

Today's memoir:

Meetings, dinner, karate. Same old Thursday.

Re Six-Word Memoirs

Ah! Forgot about that. Should have known it would already be here somewhere.

I'm not ready for my "life" memoir", but for today:

Need more air - blocked nasal passages.

...
I hear the quitting bell now.

( ...guess that is more epitaph than memoir. )
