| | I got to visit Mark's son at Camp Lejeune this past weekend, and I really loved seeing the base. However, what most moved me was all of the welcome home signs which families attach to the fences to welcome their Marine back home from an overseas tour. Here are a few I thought you all might like to see:
This is the main gate to family housing, and you can see how the signs are attached to the cyclone fencing surrounding the housing:
Here are a couple of very typical, nicely printed signs:
Here is a sweet one made from plastic beer cups:
Here is one from a Marine wife who knows what she wants:
Here's anopther from a wife who is even clearer about what she wants:
And finally, here is one from a tired Marine mom who probably got to hang one of the cute and flirty signs last time:
These really made me weepy and yet I laughed myself silly at some of them. I hope you like them as much as I did! |

| | Cindy, would you mind emailing those to me? My dad was stationed at Lejeune and he'd love to see them, but I sure as hell don't want to send him here. |

Somehow I have the idea there are many 'welcome home' babies resulting from these homecomings...
Wonderful pictures indeed.

The 82nd Airborne apparently created a run on cribs and the local maternity ward had to put in extra staff.

| | I'll add one more banner from the other side of the country - 29 Palms.
It's from his second homecoming in March 2005. The kids at a local grade school made it as an art project and everyone in the school signed it. He still has it.
