What a bunch of namby-pamby, whiny litttle ---
Oh, sorry.
Just thinking about the Yanks and today's resignation by third baseman and true Mr. October, Scott Brosius. Some guys step up and are courageous. I guess (he grudgingly said) that Scott Brosius was one.
Some interesting facts:

Brosius only played 11 years. Since my Roto league also has a minor league (yes, we ARE insane), I feel like I've been following Brosius since he was a pup, but he first showed up in the show in 1991!
Brosius only played 4 years with the Yanks. Felt like 14. I can't even remember who their third baseman was in 1996.
Stupid trade department: New York dumps Kenny Rogers and cash for Brosius four years ago. The Gambler's been in double digits in wins twice in four years. I can always find a .250 hitting third baseman
He was the model of batting consistency:
Day games = .261 and night games = .255
Home games = .256 and away games = .259
Vs. Righties = .260 and lefties = .250
On Grass = .259 and on turf = .249
Inside = .258 and outside = .257
At least you knew what you were getting.
By the way, has anyone else noticed that players are retirning younger when the super contracts are paid out? Brosius is 35. Says he's played in four straight World Series and now wants to be at home with his 10 year old daughter. And a lot of money. |
