So the Expos are about to be moved or "contracted" - read dissolved. They've traded Pedro, the manager's kid (another All-Star) and potential Hall-of-Famer Larry Walker. They draw less than the great minor league teams and have far less economic clout than many minor league teams.

Was this just a case of the owner clearing out the baggage before big changes come? Had Alou, a classy manager and player, finally lost interest?

Nothing appears to be working well in Montreal anymore. Now, there is one less thing available to work well.

That's a bad move dumping Alou. Sure, the Expos haven't done too well the last few years, but he hasn't had a lot to work with. And if he couldn't get that club to win, what makes them think Jeff Torborg can?

If I were Vladimir Guerrero, I'd want out.
