| | Super Bowl XXXVI - Rams vs. Patriots | | Anyone else looking forward to next week's Super Bowl showdown? It should be a heck of a game. On one side you've got the high-powered Rams, who've been pretty dominating all season ... on the other, the improbable Patriots, who started out 0-2, lost their starting QB, yet somehow kept winning no matter what.

| | I'm totally looking forward to the game.
Today's games were something else. Patriots losing QB, only to put back in former top QB Drew Bledsoe, and pulling it out!!! Way to go.
But, St Louis, albeit they looked really rough in the 4th, pulled it out, and will be a joy to watch!
(Is it Sunday yet?)

Seriously, I just moved to Massachisetts from California not to long ago, and am enjoying the Pats quite a bit since I didn't like any of the California football teams.
(I do like the LA Kings for Hockey, but we aren't discussing their morbid loss to the stinky bruins recently....)
Superbowl bash at my pad this year, too, always fun!

| | My hometown church in South Carolina (way back when) used to have Superbowl Sunday Breakfast Service - Service at 7 AM with a pancake breakfast to follow instead of the 10:30 service - usually attendance was pretty good, and the guys still got to see the game without arguing with the wives about church first.

| | Last year, having just moved, we had a Superbowl party.
I did the inviting.
I invited friends whose husbands were not football fans (and they weren't either.)
Everyone chatted during the whole game. My hubby was going bonkers.
This year, I have to play at a church service between 5 and 6. If we get invited to a party I'll have to go late.
He said he thinks he'd be happier just watching at home where he could concentrate.
Not having a pro football team in Arkansas, all everyone cares about are the Razorbacks. They even have this dumb old hog cheer that is way beneath my dignity to repeat...
I am rooting for the Rams.
I don't know much about football, but we lived in St. Louis for 9 happy years.
We saw Tagliabue give expansion teams to Carolina and some other place, bypassing St. Louis.
We saw him virtually blackmail St. Louis into paying huge financial fines and penalties in order to get the Rams (after stalling it as long as he could.)
We saw him give Georgia Frontiere tons and tons of BS, mostly because she was a woman team owner.
It cost St. Louis much, much more to get a team than it did those upstart newcomer cities.
St. Louis is probably the most ardent sports town in America, but the Commish was hell-bent to keep pro football out of there.
St. Louis deserves another championship because they worked harder to get a team back than any other city had to. |

| | My cousin is getting people together to deep fry a turkey. The game will be on, but deep fried turkey trumps the Superbowl for me, even if the Pats made it.
I'm pulling for the Pats, because of blood. And it's more fun to be around happy people.

| | Deep Fried turkey?
This must be a MAssachusetts thing. Even being from the south I can't say as I've ever had deep fried turkey, and since I just moved to MAss do let me know if it something I may run into around here???
Terminally curious....

| | Well--as one of the few, lone, and sad Philadelphia fans here--it was a good game yesterday, just a sad one for us. (Hey there is always next year!!!)
Don' t know who we'll be pulling for--probably the Pats. Don't know what our plans are, tho.

| | For many different reasons I was hoping for an Iggles/Patsies Super Bowl so the day was a mix of delirious happiness--and a wee bit of sadness.
To answer the line question, I heard 14 but don't take my word as gospel.
Besides I think it will change as the week goes on and Brady's condition is a little better defined by the team.
Am I happy?
YES I AM!
What a time the last couple of weeks has been

Frazz is right. St. Louis is one of the best sports towns around. Let me make this prediction - St. Louisans will not be looting and vandalizing their town post-victory.
This year we will have plenty of opportunity to prove that true, also, with a Super Bowl win, our first Stanley Cup, and a World Series!!! (Please allow me to at least dream!)
I do know the only team that can and has beat the Rams this season has been the Rams. Only poor execution on their part will snatch victory away from them.

| Begs the question of just who 'got them to the big dance'.
And the relative contribution, short term and long term, of each QB to that 'trip'.

| | As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with Belichick's call. Bledsoe did go 3-for-3 in his first series last week, but I thought he cooled off and showed a bit of rust. If I were coach (thank heavens I'm not), I'd want the guy who's been playing and winning all season.

| | True. I am very glad that I am not a coach too! I would hate to make a decision like this!
Guess we'll just have to watch, and see what happens. Worse case base, they stick Bledsoe back in, and maybe he can help pull a win out, or Brady looks/plays great & does it on his own!
It'll be FUN! Can't wait, big day almost here!
(But, this is bittersweet! There will be no more football, really (except Madden bowl) for quite a few months!)

| | 49-17 Astroturf the Key... | | Just figured I'd step out and call the score before it starts... I figure the Rams (on astroturf (are they counting the turf as an extra player?)) will torch the poor pats today. Something in the realm of 49 to 17?? Blow out big.
I am sure I will eat those words... but I figure I'm more interested in the food this afternoon than the score. So what do I care? Pass the nacho dip would ya? Dij |

| | I'll be going to watch the game in a bar - yuck - I prefer to have a party, but I was too late in planning this year. On the plus side the bar has a ten foot x ten foot big screen projection tv. And they will be serving nosh food.
