| | I don't even have to be in the office for my coworkers' kids to tick me off | | So I get home from a meeting out east. Call in to the office, nothing new going on. I log on to my home computer and run the software to access my work computer. I panic, because it is obvious that my work computer has been hacked thanks to the new citrix software we installed and someone is using my computer to play internet games. I quicky move to shut down everything that's running and watch the cursor move out of my "grasp." I shut down the work computer and call the office.
The accountant's 11-year-old son came to work with him today and someone nicely logged the kid on MY computer in MY office with MY LOGON AND PASSWORD while his father worked FOUR OFFICES DOWN THE HALL. Anyone know anything about a site called "addictinggames.com"? How much malware and adware and crap do you think he managed to import for me?
I can't wait to get to my office tomorrow and see what else this unsupervised child did in my office while I was gone.

| | Re I don't even have to be in the office for my coworkers' kids to tick me off | | It gets better. DAD didn't have the password. The boss's Right-Hand-Woman (not high on the org chart but really the woman in charge, also the computer network person) has the password. Which I'm changing tomorrow and I don't give a flying if she says she needs everyone's passwords, since she's the one who set the kid up on my computer.

| | Re I don't even have to be in the office for my coworkers' kids to tick me off | | Most of the network and computer stuff is outsourced, and the techies have the computers set so you log on to your COMPUTER (computer serial number in third log-on box) instead of the network server. Once on the computer, you can save your documents to the server, etc., and you're on the network. BUT you cannot sign on someone else's computer with your logon and password, you need to have the logon/password for the person who uses that machine. Dumbest set-up I've ever seen. Marginally better than when I got here though, when there was NO server, everyone saved their stuff to C:\, and a bunch of other horrible things.

| | Re I don't even have to be in the office for my coworkers' kids to tick me off | | ummmm I like addictinggames.com? not all the games link out to other sites, but some will download crap if you don't have protection against pop-ups etc...
I'd be a little ticked off if soemone gave out my passwords though, or let someone into a private office and let a strange kid log on to my computer.

| | Re I don't even have to be in the office for my coworkers' kids to tick me off | | What an irresponsible thing for her to do.
Sounds like a breach of confidentiality, a lack of understanding of the purpose of a password, and well ... stupid.

| | Re I don't even have to be in the office for my coworkers' kids to tick me off | | OK, so far the only problem I can see is my system recovered from a "serious error" and my video driver needs to be updated as it is possibly corrupt, then I have to reconfigure the remote access software.

I'd be annoyed too!!!!! And why did anyone bring their kid to work and not have something for said kid to DO while there??? |

| They DID have something for the kid to do. Play games on the computer.
