I had a photo emergency at work and found myself having to colorize (in Photoshop) a rather intricate black and white photo for which there was no color version or even a source image indicating what the colors might have been. I won't bore you with the long, frustrating story of what happened and why I had to do it. I'll only bore you with my patting myself on the back. 
When I first sat down to work on it, I didn't think I'd be up to the task. Now that it's done, I'm damn proud of it.
Here's the before and after of the interior of a Victorian home. Now if only I could do a complete makeover of my own home as easily and inexpensively.

Thanks everyone.
Here's the follow up to the story:
After hours and hours of work on the retouching (that I needed to use as a last resort and keep up my sleeve) I had to work even harder convincing top management that we don't want to use it. It doesn't convey the message we're trying to deliver. Even if it is pretty.
We're going to go with the black and white. At least as of yesterday.
It'll take several weeks until I have a final to show, but I'll post something when I do.
