Tonight, I went to a cut and dry meeting. A zoning decision was rendered about a hearing that was held two weeks ago. No biggie. Done this stuff a thousand times before.
But, I told the editor something interesting about the meeting because it made me laugh. It made them laugh too. And that little tidbit, not the outcome of the meeting, became the story.
And the zoners aren't going to like me very much tomorrow

Luckily for the Spring Township Zoning Hearing Board, the rain on Wednesday evening ended shortly before the board’s meeting began.
Because the board was locked out, its meeting was held on the front porch of the township municipal building.
"I should have called earlier today to make sure the building was unlocked," Chairman John Wails said.
It should be noted that Robert’s Rules of Order are equally applicable when the meeting is held on a patio.
In fact, the board is getting pretty good at conducting meetings outdoors.
"This isn’t the first time we’ve held meetings out here," Wails noted.
With appropriate formality, Wails called the meeting to order and the board voted 3-0 to approve the request of Frank Ferrara and Son Inc. to build two additions to company buildings at 2117 and 2125 Portland Ave.
Two weeks ago, Frank G. Ferrara of Wyomissing told the board that his business was growing and needed more office and storage space.
He said he wanted to add a 1,600 square-foot extension to the corporate offices at 2125 Portland Ave. and a second 1,600 foot extension to a storage building at 2117 Portland Ave.
The company required zoning approval because the additions would not have sufficient front or side yard setbacks to meet township requirements.
