| | How cool is this? | | Craft show today with my crafty partner Angie. Started out SLOOOOOOOW and I was really concerned. Traffice picked up after a bit, and mid-morning, two ladies approached our booth, shopped, oohed and ahhed, and finally asked if we were "in any shops".
Nope (Angie)
Yep (Me)
Well, after some discussion, we were asked if we'd sell to them (at discount) for their new gift shop that's opening in the next couple of weeks in a trendy area of Omaha. We need to set up a private showing so they can pick and chose what they'd like in the shop...they LOVED our stuff and bought a couple hundred bucks worth as "samples" to show the other owners!
I still have three shows to go this holiday season....have to get busy restocking, I think!!!

| | They need a manager for the store, too. (I told the gal I had a strong retail background, and while they probably can't even touch my current salary , it never hurts to explore).
Margaret, you want to move to Nebraska?

| | I called the store owner tonite to give her some info on a fixture supplier I know of.
She wants to open on SATURDAY. Like THIS Saturday. Her husband LOVED the samples she brought home, and she "bought" them back from the store already.
I gotta work my @ss off for the next four days!!!!!! I keep telling myself this is a GOOD problem to have. But I keep going !!!!!!

| | That's fantastic!!! Way to go, Lynn!
Those are also terrific sales as "samples." That could mean a fantastic sale when they get around to their "real" purchases. Wow! That's the sort of thing artists dream of happening at a show, Lynn.

| | OMG, Eris, I need to add that to the short list of quotes we toss at each other during shows.
The other classic is "Can you imagine sitting around beading all this crap?" (Actual quote at a show from a really classy looking female (sarcasm dripping from my words )

| | The store now has a name:
"How Cute is That!"
I like it.
I have a question though...currently my work has just plain old, boring barbell hang tags. Should I invest (the time and money) into something a little more fancy that has my logo? I'm thinking of something about 1"x1" square, on which I can put my logo on one side and handwrite the price and what stones are included in the piece (Jeanie indicated that one thing she'd like to be able to tell customers is what kind of stones are in the jewelry...I do write it on the barbell now, but it looks a little cramped.) I can use the same concept for earrings too.

| | It should have your logo - definately! But I think that a 1x1 inch tag is too big for jewelry. OUr tags are about 3/4" by 1/2" - and I think they are a bit large. If you can buy them with your logo printed on one side, you should be able to write the stones on the other with a fine point pen. Ther are also label printers, but that might be too much of an investment for now. |
