| | I went to see the doc this morning... She said that if I had come any day later, I would have had an infection in my lungs. On top of everything else that is wrong with me

| | I am home with two kids with the stomach flu. According to the attendence aid in Zack's school, 8 out of the 15 kids in his class are out sick today.

| | I'm having a good day so far. Got one load of clothes in the dryer, another in the washer. Cleaned out the litter pan, scrubbed the toilet in that bathroom, swipe-mopped part of the floor. Did a math game with the kids for about 30 minutes, and Sean is working on his schoolwork, while Erin has already finished hers.
I am very tired, though - didn't get in bed til midnight. I really needed a hot bath last night, and DH stayed on the phone, then took way longer taking his bath than he meant to, so I didn't even get in the bath til 10:00. (Our water pressure is *really* low, so it takes a long time to take a tub bath in the house - if you want a hot one, that is.)

The stomach bugs really seem to be making the rounds of the country this year. I've heard FAR more about stomach bugs than colds or flu this year. We've all had one at least once, and some of us twice in the last month.

| | Try to think of it as building up your immune system. I am a firm believer that letting yourself get sick now and then does actually help fight stuff off later.
Not that the thought helps improve your day when you're ralphing all over the bathroom...... |

| | My best friend gets frustrated with the school - the school nurse sends home a letter saying "if your kid says he doesn't feel well, he probably doesn't so don't send him and all his germs to school." Then if she keeps the kid home sick, the school calls demanding to know why the kid isn't in school and lectures her about how important school attendance is.

| | Ugh, MJ - that would get on my nerves, too. The nurse at our school gives reasonable guidelines, and I wish more parents followed them. The most important are to keep your child home for 24 hours after any vomiting, diarreah or fever of 100.0 or higher.

| | I had a meeting by my house so I went home and napped for about 45 min. It was so nice.
No kids have had the stomach flu so I'm feeling lucky. But Christina has my sympathies. *knocks on wood*
Friday is an exciting day for us. My nephew is coming home from Brazil. He has been there for two years on an LDS mission and we are so excited to go meet him at the airport. It will be a mini family reunion.

| | Spent the day drowning in papers that kids had corrected. I wish they could just pass the durned things the first time through.
The nurse says the tummy stuff seems to be hitting now. I have only had one kid out, and the rest of 5th grade is similar, so I don't think it's hit the big kids yet. The only one I've had out has been enrolled in the school for 14 days, has been absent five, and went home early on two. I don't think I'll even know who he is when/if he comes back. I'm ready to send the data clerk (who sends out the "from now on you must have a doctor's note" letters) after him.

| | We have an install next week, so anticipating everyone will be swamped, we had our pregame at work this week.
And I had a not so exciting conclusion to the day. Driving home from work, my car started making a horrendous noise. I even stopped on the side of the interstate because it sounded like my tire was ripping apart. But I couldn't see anything Got home and could see this bolt-looking thing sticking out of my brake area on the front tire. Dan said it was the pin on my caliper. I'm not quite sure if it could have been a really big problem (it probably was :shudder: ) but he's fixed it temporarily now and he'll fix it permanently tomorrow.

| | Well I am back to work, and it is Thursday. Something is still wrong with my chest and lungs. My head is pounding every once and a while, and hurts like hell. I just have that 'want to crawl back into bed' feeling.
But I hope everyone is doing better today!

| | Yesterday I have a marathon session of dividing up 1000 CDs for instructors to pass along to their students. Then I had an 10:50-11:45 class, and back-to-back afternoon classes (1:30-4). After that it was a race to pick Rory up at daycare and get home so I could change, grab an appetizer and head out the door to my book club.
Today, I'm subbing for another teacher all afternoon but this morning has been kind of relaxed. A little more odds and ends connected with CD distribution, applied to contribute to an encyclopedia, re-sent a conference paper proposal, read a chapter in a scholarly tome. I do not have to do any lesson prep until Monday because we're doing course-wide recitations during class (I just show up and grade). Today I even have had time to log onto EA.
