| | Guess who left work an hour into the shift crying and saying she quit.
(Helpful hint: It wasn't me.)

| | More appropriately, what did the Accounting Biddies do now? Teamwork, a beautiful thing sometimes. |

OK, so the biddies left the coworker notes about her screwups... one of which was during my days off. The coworker showed me one, and started rattling about how the biddies don't know what they're talking about. I asked her to back up and tell me the whole situtation. I'm still not terribly clear on exactly what she did. So I told her that the best way to prevent this from happening is xyz, and that I thought she should do xyz from now on, and (re) explained xyz to her. Then I told her that I really felt she should start doing abc on the nights that I was working; first to take some of the pressure of me, and second because she needed to do it when she was working alone, and needed practice.
Then I got a call from the banquets department that they were having issues. I went to go deal with that. At one point, I tried calling the desk, but nobody answered. When I got back to the desk, I asked her why she didn't answer the phone. She told me she'd had to go to the bathroom. So then I went back to banquets to finish up helping them, and came back to the desk.
She said she'd had to go to the bathroom because she'd been crying, because I'd been so mean to her. I told her I wasn't trying to be mean, but there were problems, and we needed to deal with them. She then said that no one else had said anything to her about there being problems. I pointed out that the (multiple) notes from the accounting department were their way of pointing out problems. It went round and round that way a couple times, with me telling her that I couldn't do all the work, I needed her to do her share, which she simply wasn't doing, and her telling me that a) on the nights when I worked all night and she did half an hour's worth of work in two hours she just expected me to tell her to do things, and b) when I told her to do things it made her cry.
I told her I didn't know how to talk to her, since talking to her in a calm and reasonable tone seemed to be "abusive" in her eyes. I told her that I really thought she wasn't pulling her weight, and that it was wearing on me and everyone else. So then she said she should just quit and make everybody happy. I told her that wouldn't make me happy. I told her that I was trying to help her, but I couldn't see any way I could.
So, she left, she says she quit. I'm hoping she sticks by it. I'm tired of this one. I need to deal with a new psychopath. The front desk manager is almost as relieved about this as I am, but I called the comptroller, and she said she'd call the coworker at home. I'm just praying that the comptroller doesn't talk her into coming back.
*shrug*

| | "Life's a stage..." and all that crap. I'm sorry you had to go through her little drama, Eris. I'm hoping her repleacement will be somewhat more sane. |

| | Mind you, I'm not looking for a night auditor to be completely sane. I'll settle for "relatively emotionally stable."

| | And Cindy, if I do get new stories from the new auditor, I hope they're a little more interesting than this one's.

| | Yikes! Well, the best of luck to you.
I know several people who are looking for employment, but at least half of them I wouldn't want to be responsible for sending you.

| | Sadly, tragically, she hasn't really quit. She was back on Saturday night. Had a long talk with her and the comptroller in which I explained that no, I'm not mean, but her work quality has declined since she's started taking the medication she's on (Pamilor), and it's really affecting me. Basically, I think she's shopping around for another job, but she'll be with us for a while yet.
Absolute best part of the night, after hearing her talk and talk and talk about how it's me, my tone of voice, how I talk to her, blah blah blah that made her start crying and run out of the hotel... after all this, she suddenly turns to me and says "Wow, I just realized, my doctor put me on a birth control pill with a higher level of estrogen. Do you think maybe that's why I'm having these mood swings?
Now, why she couldn't have that stroke of brilliance while the comptroller was THERE, I don't know...
Oh, well. She's not even the worst psycho I've worked with. She's just SUCH a friggin drama queen, it gets tiring having everything around her funneled into her little soap operas. But you work with actors, I'm betting you know how that works.

| | Yeah, but you can tell actors they're being drama queens and they'll take it as a compliment.
