Herding cats....

Well, it's time for another round of "Just get in the frikken cab, OK?"

Last week, we had the cabs show up when they told us they would, but all the guests showed up at different times than they'd arranged, and took different cabs than the ones they were supposed to be getting on (makes a difference now that we're only paying for "certain" airport runs.)

This week, the guest's are not only showing up on time, they're showing up in the order we have them listed on the cab call sheet (yes, since you ask, they are engineering students.) So, naturally, the cab that shows up to pick up the first batch of five could only seat four people. This being AFTER the TWO phone calls I've had with the cab company in which they seemed to understand that I needed a cab that could carry FIVE people. (Random Serenity/Firefly moment: "Mule can't carry five.")

And today, when I get home, I'm going to relax by trying to put both of my cats in the bathroom at the same time.

Second cab is already 10 minutes late. Dispatcher swears it's going to be pulling in here any minute now....

Would it be cheaper for the hotel to lease a van and do the run themselves?

We have shuttle service, but only between 7 am and 11 pm. Nowadays we "don't pay" for cabs to the airport between 11pm and 7am, except when... (make your own list, but be sure to include "when the guest whines a lot" and "when the deskclerk ordering the cab forgets we don't pay for cabs.") Even when we're not paying, airport cabs usually turn into a complete circus.

And I would just like to point out that the last cab of the morning *was* on time. This would be the one picking up the girl who forgot her penguin hat! and had to go back to her room, and then back to her friends room, and then to the bar! because it's the penguin hat! (I'm not quite sure what she's doing with the engineering school, but I'd be willing to invest in whatever company she starts ten years from now.)

watch out of they'll lock you in the bathroom. Without your penguin hat!

I've only tried *once* to put them both in the bathroom. I put Pixie in because she kept freaking out because of the vacuum, but wouldn't get out of the living room. Then she started crying. So I figured I'd put Stranger in there to confuse them both into shutting up.

Let's just say it ended badly. For everybody. These days I just let Pixie get herself freakded out over the vacuum.

Thanks for putting this up! It was a Super Bowl commercial several years ago, and I missed it.
