| | Oh, help me, I'm having a mean day... | | OK, this has been a very bad week at work. Thursday and Friday the coworker was physically present, but was pretty much so completely out of it that I pretty much took all the paperwork away from her and did it myself.
Saturday, the coworker was in too much pain to even come in to work.
Tonight, I'm working for her because she's getting testing done to determine when she should go into surgery.
So that's six nights straight, mostly working alone.
Then I have a problem pop up with the credit cards over the weekend. Saturday, two of the four batches I sent out through the system came back with errors. I contacted the tech people, and they appeared to have fixed the problem. Sunday night, the same problem pops up. I tried calling the same tech people, they tell me they have a "high volume of calls coming in." They tell me they can't help me right then, but I can call the bank to see if the batch went through. I call the bank. Not only did Sunday night's batch not go through, but the second batch from Saturday, the one the tech people said they'd fixed, hadn't gone through either. I call back the tech people, tell them the batch didn't make it to the bank so could they help me. No, they say, high call volume. They'll call me back.
They didn't call me back.
So, I leave notes for accounting, specifying which batches didn't get transferred to the bank. I contact systems, practically beg the systems guy to talk to the tech people to fix the problem. He says he will.
I come in on Monday night, and there's a note from accounting. "When will the batch go through? What should I do?" My immediate thought was "Well, 1) fix the frikken CC computer, or, barring that, 2) don't pester me and let me fix the frikken CC computer." I didn't say anything of the kind, of course. I check, looks like nothing's been done in regards to fixing the CC computer (they systems guy LIED to me!). So, I attempt to settle the batch from Sunday. It still doesn't go through. I call the CC tech people again. Get them same guy as the night before. He tells me he'll call me back in fifteen minutes. An hour later I call him back (he was *just* going to call me!). We call the bank, the bank tells him why the CC batch failed. He tries to dial in to fix the error. He can't dial in. I tell him to walk me through it. He does. Five minutes in DOS later, the issue is fixed.
I deposit the batches from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I note in the CC deposit which sheet is the deposit summary from Saturday, which is from Sunday, and which is from Monday. I note on the audit cover sheet that "all CC batches from 3/25, 3/26 & 3/27 have been deposited to the bank.
So what do I get tonight? That's right. A voicemail from accounting asking when the batches will be deposited and THREE individual notes from them asking the same.
My response so far has been:
"It already WAS! Did you miss the extra $30,000.00 in last night's drop? Or the notes in the drop and on the audit cover sheet? Please, tell me what I have to do to tell you things."
*sigh*
You know that old saying about how in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king? It's a crock. The one-eyed man is in an insane asylum.

| | Re Oh, help me, I'm having a mean day... | | LOL! Sorry, Eris. Sometimes I will ask someone to confirm something they already told me just to be sure. I had that happen when I was an auditor. My manager didn't believe the exception I had found, so I kept going back to verify the same information. Of course, it turned out to be my fault that I had not been careful enough to get the information straight the first time.
Of course, there's always the other possibility that they know how to read figures but not post-it-notes. Hang in there!

| | Re Oh, help me, I'm having a mean day... | | No, I'm thinking from the... intensity of the communications that the biddy just didn't realize I'd done it. I just need help writing her a polite note telling her that I already did it, and that I tried to tell her that I did it, and that I need to know what she'll look at so I can communicate such things in the future.
I already discarded the version of the note that says "If neon is necessary, please let me know and I'll arrange for a supplier."

| | Re Oh, help me, I'm having a mean day... | | Also, please note that the original note, addressed "_____, you ignorant slut" also made it into the circular file.

| | Re Oh, help me, I'm having a mean day... | | Talked to the biddy this morning. She actually HAD discoved the $30,000.00, but had already put the notes in my bucket. She had MEANT to go back and take them out, but was in a rush, and completely forgot. Which makes me glad I did tone the note I left HER down. (It came out sounding stuffy, rather than bitchy). Bottom line, EVERYBODY'S having a bad month at the hotel.

I know it's a problem of mine, although I'm the SOUL of tact compared to my sister and my dad. My dad once told a boss of his he couldn't understand how on earth he was employed when he was socially retarded and had no idea how to manage humans. |

| | Re Oh, help me, I'm having a mean day... | | LOL. The two people on the board I'm most likely to say "OMG, that's what I thought in my head!" when I read their posts are Eris and Leslie.
I should try to be more like some of the others, though. |
