I Pay People

Or rather, I'm responsable for making sure people get paid. Dealing with my "sites" is reminds me regularly of Eris's "Hearding Cats" thread.

I am a "Specialist, Commissions" for the time managment dept in a payroll company.

I'm begining to miss the hotel. Almost.

It's fairly simple-if you want me to pay you, give me your time sheet, if you say you didn't get paid for certain jobs, give me the job info. If you can't do that-do not expect me to pay you and don't email or call me or have other people email me or call me telling me I should just "pay you whatever jobs are still open for that week"

I am not your mommy, I am not responsable for keeping track of YOUR work!

I have learned so much at this job, and my payroll manager is an absolutly fanstastic woman whom I admire greatly.

Re I Pay People

thank you wormie my coworkers aren't nearly as insane as yours, but the people I am responsable for paying are in the running:

today I submitted 19 special pays. nine late time sheets for new hires. five massive research for two techs paid at the wrong level. and a few other's for whatever reason.

on top of that I got forwarded a bunch of stuff to research by a guy who says he didn't get paid. He didn't bother to call his old site, he just called our boss and told her he didn't get paid. He didn't get paid because he didn't call his site to find out that his final check was sitting there waiting to be picked up.

Re I Pay People

I'd talk to the boss and suggest a sure-fire way to fix it.

You pay people once a week (or every other week or however you normally do it). It is each person's duty to get his or her timesheet in on time. If they are late, they don't get paid until the next pay period.

Lots of businesses do that.

Re I Pay People

we've tried that-after a number of DOL claimes we decided to just suck it up and deal with it. Now we do this-we'll pay you min wage for the hours on your timesheet while we research your issues. or you can wait until I'm done an get paid all at once-your choice.l

It's not a bad job, I've been promoted, got hired on, got a raise and seen a bunch of people quit no notice-

you know, it's a decent job-not a bad one. it just drives me nutzo sometimes
