| | I am writing my mid-year review.
Ack, I HATE doing this. One thing about having my own business some day, I will never have to write a performance assessment again!!!!

| | Unless you and I are partners and I make you write one! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I think you are great - you have met your goals, you have shown professionalism, you are reliable and detail oriented. You should get a big raise. |

| | 1. We don't get raises in our midyears.
2. We don't get big raises, period.
I did get a nice stock option package last year to compensate for the diddly raise I got. That was good. Of couse, options are only as good as options go.
What I hate is the BS format. If I could just list a bunch of accomplishments, strengths and developmental needs, that would be fine. Instead I have to determine how my work has impacted my competency performance (competencies are Mobilize, Drive, Focus, Align)..
Where's that BS smilie?

| | Heh. When I worked at the hospital we got like a 20 page survey with questions like
On a scale of 1 to 4, rate the following:
I do not discriminate against patients on the basis of color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
Now... they should have ALL been 4s. BUT if you wanted to give yourself a 4, you needed documented proof, like a letter written by a patient, or something of that ilk. How many times have you had someone write you to thank you for not discriminating against them?
And once you gave yourself your 3s, and maybe some 4s if you were lucky, you then had to average the section, and your overall average, inevitably, would have to be a 3.
3 means you get the base raise. 4 means you have the opportunity to get the big bucks, provided you can prove all your 4s are documented.
No one got 4s.
No one got big raises.
So the next time you are at the hospital, think of writing a letter to the aide to thank her for not discriminating against her. Or for not taking longer than 15 minutes on her coffee break. She really needs to document it.
My review at my current company is a code for "my raise." There is no review. Just a straight 3% across the board. |

| | I told my boss I thought some of the sections were bogus and I hated filling them out. The other director in our department looked at me like I was crazy and said "I"ve never filled that part out!"
Boss lady says: "I fill it out for you."
DAMMIT. Why do I have to be so efficient? (Maybe it earns me extra points, ya think???)

| | Nah, I doubt it. Ineptitude is who and what raises a person to the top. We have to set goals at the beginning of the year and then assess them and discuss our outcomes at the end of the year. Then we take them in and discuss it all with the principal. All teacher evaluations are then signed and kept in our records. Every 3rd year, is a formal classroom visit and observation and the principal evaluates us. That's when it gets hairy because it's all subjective not objective and the principal we have now plays favorites and loves to show off her power of us all. She gets rid of one teacher every year just to show the rest of us that she can make life miserable for us all.
I'd much rather just fill in a form. | | |
